NOTE : This version is discontinued in the IOverse Games.
Howdy everyone, Here is my notes on the Blacksmith Profession, along with some cards I've made for it. Be warned, this is in *early access* so it may change as development goes on.
Blacksmithing
This profession allows you to synthesize, upgrade, and forge weapons and armor for all character classes. The Blacksmith system in Io allows you to create your own custom Weapons and Armor to do with as you wish…if you’ve got the right material and skill for it.
Gaining Proficiency : Ultimately up to the GM, but here are some ideas that you can gain proficiency in with Blacksmith.
Primary Material: One Primary Material is used to create a weapon or armor of your choice. Each Primary Material has a DC Limit, How many Secondary Materials you can use, and how many Secondary Features you can apply.
Baseline Item DC : Every weapon requires a Damage output and a Damage Element Type. Every armor requires a base armor to work off of. This will create your Base DC. Base Item takes 2 Hours to create.
Features: There are various weapons and armor features, some which can be used through items you have attuned onto your person. Every feature added increases the DC of the item you’re trying to create. Some features cannot be added with other features. Every feature added increases the creation time by 1 Hour.
Blacksmith Check : When creating an item, you must determine the project limits. This involves first choosing a Primary Material, followed by making a Blacksmith Check. Once a Blacksmith Check has been made, the material has been used up for the project. You may now assemble the item, following the Baseline Item Requirements and the additional features. This may not exceed the DC Limit of the Primary Material, or the Blacksmith Check you made.
Secondary Material : Secondary Materials are extraordinary additions to your crafted item. These allow you to add wondrous features to further enhance your creation. Such examples include magical bonuses, bonus damage, and on hit abilities for weapons. These features increase the DC of the item, which can exceed the Base DC of the Primary Material, but cannot exceed the Blacksmith Check.
Blacksmith Magical Items : There are various magical items that can be crafted or found that will further improve your Blacksmith abilities. Some may add bonuses to your check, exceed the Base DC limits of materials, or allow you to add Features such as Masterwork, which adds an additional +1 Magic Bonus to the item. You may use only up to 3 Blacksmith Magic Items when creating your item.
Base Value (VERY Early Access) : Base value of an item is the total DC² (a DC 13 item costs 169 Gold). Features that are added through Secondary Materials or through Magic Items will have an additional flat value added to the item. (Adding a Masterwork feature to an item increases its value by 1,000 Gold).
