My Other Half - A story of Love and Revenge: Chapter 14

Haru

One year later…

As I stand on a hill a few miles away from a fallen city also known as the center of the Beast Kingdom, I look upon Xemore. This kingdom had lasted for hundreds of years before it was destroyed for personal gain. From what I’ve been told, it was a completely unprovoked and unjust attack. The greed of humans and elves will have its day. They will fear the idea of ever thinking about attacking us once again. First we must throw out the demonic intruders, who are currently occupying the city.

It’s currently still surrounded by tens of thousands. Everything you could imagine is in this demonic army. There are orcs, goblins, humans, elves, and many other grotesque-looking sludge creatures. It seems that the black miasma is taking over their bodies and disfiguring them. They probably raised the dead of fallen soldiers to inflate their ranks. Only Akari and I have made our way to take back what was once ours.

It’s not because we thought it would be very cool to single-handedly take back the city on our own. But what I failed to notice when I first got to their snowy settlement was that almost everyone was only women and children. All the fighters either died or were enslaved. All the current residents were years away from being useful. We felt ready to take the first step. Akari and I trained as hard as we could under Yumi, who was like a psychotic drill sergeant.

About a month ago, I was able to unlock my nine-tails battle mode. That’s what they told me the nine tails represents. It was something that belonged only to their family. When Akari and I bonded together, her genes flowed throughout my body, giving me the ability to unlock that power.

My control over lightning has grown much stronger, and I have the ability to completely nuke targets. Akari and I have a spell where we sync up together and create a massive lightning storm. Imagine having flash floods with thousands of lightning strikes. It would be very hard to not get completely disoriented or just die on the spot.

I plan to open up with that, hoping it will cause great damage to the enemy forces. Allowing us to rush in and massacre the rest. We’re lucky because the only threat is having overwhelming numbers, but no real strong enemy lurks within them. It doesn’t make sense why the demons didn’t just completely overtake this kingdom. They’re holding it with a weak army, but with only numbers instead of creating a strong foothold. There isn’t even a demon king anywhere to be seen or some kind of authoritative figure.

Over the past year, our scouts have come and checked out the surroundings, to allow us to perfectly prepare for our attack. It’s like they just attacked us for the hell of it, without having any goal. What cruel bastards killing all those people just to create chaos and nothing more. I’ve learned that the power inside their territory is terrifying and somewhere you don’t go without a lot of preparation.

“Akari, are you ready to start the first step to the beginning of the rest of our lives as rulers over this place?” I said as I looked over at Akari standing at my side. I lifted my hand up, reaching for hers.

She lifted her hand, clasping it onto mine. “Let’s do this, Haru, and take back what’s ours. This has been a long time coming, and I can’t wait to smash those bastards into the ground.”

The surrounding air started to get superheated as static electricity started to cover the both of us, syncing our mana together. A very bright red light started growing around us as I felt the power within me surge. Both of us popped out eight more tails on the back of our bodies as our combined might skyrockets. There were eighteen fluffy tails fluttering in the intense storm that was starting to manifest around us.

I saw in the distance that the horde of enemies had noticed us and was making its way to our location. This was part of our plan from the very beginning. Using the intense light from our combined strength to pull aggro and make them come in our direction.

At this time we both looked at each other and nodded, “Thunderstorm!” We both yelled as we raised our free hands into the sky, and a red beam shot out. Extremely dark clouds quickly covered the sky as crimson and black lightning crackled in the sky. An intense buzzing noise rang out as the air itself started to turn into electricity.

We pushed a good amount of our mana into this light show, and it didn’t disappoint. Thousands of zapping sounds and loud bangs were going off all over the place. Both of our eyes had red electric static sparking, and our tails acted as if they were Tesla coils. The loud roars in the distance were the only other thing you could hear, along with screeching noises. I watched on as thousands of demonic creatures were completely burned to death getting struck by the lightning strikes.

With all the demon beasts being funneled into this direction with their attention on the bright light, it made it easy to kill large numbers of them. With Akari and me sharing the same power, I can run my electricity through her, and she can send her fire into me. With this kind of attack, it was possible to use all the mana she had before our imprinting to attack an enemy.

After about ten seconds of pushing our mana into the spell, we stopped supplying it with power. Both of us just looked on in awe as we saw the carnage we just created. At least half of the demonic army was completely fried, and the other was stunned by the attack.

I looked over at Akari and said, “There are still about half of them alive. Let’s do the second spell we practiced.”

“Sure, let’s blow them to hell!” Akari yelled as we started to sync up once again. But this time it was Akari’s turn to lead the spell.

Instead of static electricity covering our bodies, we were engulfed in orangish red flames. I looked over at Akari’s face, who was giving off a pretty erotic visage. I can’t say I blame her as I smile to myself. The feeling of shooting off one of these extremely mana-heavy spells feels like pure ecstasy. Our bodies start charging up again as we prepare for the finale of our show.

Once again, we both raise our hands to the sky, “Firestorm!” As we finish screaming, a loud burst from the ground that’s easily a mile long of fire erupts. It easily goes a few hundred feet into the air as it incinerates anything within its range.

My body was currently feeling a little heavy from firing off two mana-heavy spells, one right after the other. But at the same time, my adrenaline was through the roof. After firing off that second spell, we both released each other’s hands and just watched as the battlefield was in complete chaos.

It took about a minute for everything to settle; our carnage was visible to us. As we looked on, there were probably about five hundred or six hundred left. Two spells pretty much destroyed tens of thousands of enemies that were mostly low-level scum.

“Let’s finish this, Haru!” I heard Akari yell as she shot forward into the distance to end the rest of them with her own hands.

I filled my body up once again with lightning and caught up as she cut into her first target. My short swords that I now use were both sparking with electricity as I started to cut through all the disgusting black sludge creatures. The electricity would jump to any target close by as I would connect with my blades cutting through their bodies.

These things don’t have any idea how to fight, and all they do is charge at us with no thought at all. It makes our job of cleaning up the excess trash on the battlefield a piece of cake. With this overwhelming success in our first battle together, we have to make sure not to get too cocky. I thought this to myself as I was speeding through the enemies, cutting off any head that I could see.

Our whole thinking on going with thunderstorm before firestorm was a pretty obvious one. The ground would be extremely soft and very vulnerable after casting a thunderstorm. Also, with the effect of stunning anything that didn’t get killed directly by a lightning bolt. After that, having a firestorm come up from below gave them no chance to get away from a head-on collision with our spells. Taking care of the cleanup afterwards is a piece of cake.

It's really something else how you could place your mana underground to create such a spell. Your imagination really has to be something else to use magic to its fullest. The options are truly endless as long as you have enough mana and can think outside the box.

Once we finished killing the rest of the survivors on the battlefield, we both stood next to each other, looking fondly at our work. The area within a few miles looks like a wasteland, but on the bright side, the city is still standing. We allowed enough time before our first attack for the enemy army to make its way close enough to us before we unloaded onto it.

I couldn't help but think about the fact that I pretty much just became a mass murderer. But I don't think it really counts because they weren't human, and my race change had a lot to do with dulling my feelings towards killing. Beasts always follow the rule of the jungle, and this world is no different. If you're too weak to defend yourself, you will be killed; that's just how it is.

“At least we didn’t destroy any more of the city. That’s a pretty huge accomplishment.” I chuckled.

“It’s going to be a long process to bring Xemore back to what it once was.” Akari sighed.

“Well, everyone else will have to worry about that. Aren’t we going to be its rulers soon? So we shouldn’t have to do manual labor.” I find way more enjoyment in training and spending time with Akari terrorizing our enemies. We have no time to give a helping hand in building up this place once again.

“That’s true; my mother had told me once we get the castle back up and looking how it used to be. We will have both our coronations and wedding at the same time.” She wrapped her arms around me, giving a tight hug.

“Something to look forward to, but I assume that’s going to take quite some time with the size of that castle.”

“Probably a good six months. We won’t be able to do anything for a few months anyway, waiting to see if any demons will retaliate for killing off their army.”

“That’s true; I guess the Beastkin that are currently being held hostage in the Human Kingdom will have to wait a little longer.” I said with a sigh. I was looking forward to visiting the humans and the way they live in this world. Not only that, but I’m also very curious about what kind of bastards these humans are and want to fuck with some nobles. From all the stories I’ve ever read in my past, they were always the type of character I hated the most. So full of themselves, and I wished I could bring them down a peg.

“They will have to tough it out for a bit longer. Then we will make them pay!” Akari said with a hateful glare at the now-rotting corpses of thousands of dead.

Looking off in the direction where we came, I see a large group of people starting to make their way to our location. It was led by Yumi as hundreds of Beastkin were walking along with her. We take each other’s hand and start heading towards the crowd of cheering people.

As we got closer, I saw Yumi with tears in her eyes, and she started to dash in our direction. She reaches us and throws both arms around our bodies.

“That was amazing, you two! All that training we did for this past year was really worth it because you made that look way too easy. With our city back, Ryo can finally rest in peace, but this, of course, isn’t the end of our revenge!” She said with a twisted grin. I looked over at Akari, who was showing the same face. "It's only the beginning."

“That was quite the amazing feeling, shooting off both of those spells back to back. We never gave it so much mana when we were learning how to do it. But the feeling of pure bliss once you fire off such a powerful spell really is something else.” I said with sparkling eyes at what we accomplished today.

“I know, right? It was almost like how I felt when we had our first time.” Akari smirked with her tongue out. I took this as an invitation and grabbed onto her tongue with my lips, sucking onto it. Akari’s eyes widened, and she reciprocated my actions.

“Alright, you two, it’s no time for this.” Yumi separated us as we both kept smiling at each other. Yumi let out a sigh, having to deal with our excessive affection for this past year. “Please remember what I always tell you two! There is a time and place for that!”

“We’re sorry.” The both of us said it in unison, but at the same time we both glanced at each other with a grin.

“Look at that; you even said it at the exact same time. You two are almost in sync with each other!” She looked off into space, thinking about how she used to feel when she was younger with Ryo.
