So in other words, if you take out of Matthew everything that's already in Mark, you're left with the Double Tradition (Matt + Luke) and the Special M Material (Matt only). In the Double Tradition, Matt is almost always following the LXX. In the Special M Material (like his Fulfillment Citations), he is in fact rarely doing so. So my point there was, how does Matthew "know" only to use the Septuagint in those parts that Luke is going to copy?

@16:35 - "If we were compelled to accept Matthew as the original author of all the material of Matthew's gospel except what's already found in Mark, then we would have to question why the author followed the Septuagint everywhere except the material he doesn't share with Luke." I feel like there's something critical there, but I'm not tracking.

Unscathed

I also have to share my PDF of Bultmann's reconstruction of John with the Community. That was somewhat delayed due to the situation I described in the first few minutes of this show. It's almost done and I should post it here no later than 09/03/23.
