Document shared: Gospel of Mark Triharmonium.
Added 2023-07-09 21:20:40 +0000 UTCOne of the questions received for the Q&A Show was about the Q hypothesis. I used that as motivation to finish a project that I've been putting off for some time, which is to create an annotated Gospel of Mark that shows when Matthew and Luke follow Mark's order.
In looking at the Markan redaction parts, I think there is definitely a case to be made for either a Proto-Mark or Deutero-Mark, although it could also be the case that Mark was heavily edited directly prior to its inclusion in the First Edition of the NT. The main reason I would now say this is the utter chaos of that "Demon-Possessed Boy" story (Mark 9:15-29); it's difficult to imagine how Matthew and Luke both got out of that sequence totally unscathed. And I sometimes can't help but think that Canonical Mark's version of the Leaven of the Pharisees...thing (8:14-8:21)...is a reaction to the author of Matthew not understanding whatever the original story was (with that last one, I'm verging on breaking my Rule for the Host #1).
At any rate, I'm sharing this document for this month; I had hoped to release an annotated Gospel of John (following Bultmann's commentary) but this Mark project took precedence.
As for the show (Episode 31), my plan is to record it today; certainly it will be released no later than next Friday, and probably before then.
