warning: this chapter is actually a mix of two chapters, but I decided to make it one because they had same theme.
When the first murder happened it was a scandal. Monsters were terrified, some were furious, they were afraid that another war between humans and monsters is starting. "We just got our homes, our jobs and rights and they want to bring us back?" they thought. Who could blame them? Before happened some disappearance, but monsters didn't want to point at humans because of that, maybe it wasn't their fault. Maybe in this big world monsters could get lost just because they are not used. They didn't want another war, another argument.
But this time they had a witness, weird enough it was a human who called the police. They arrived soon but what it means for a monster who dusts away too fast. The human described the murderer as "a human woman in gray coat with a gun glowing yellow". Quite familiar.
- As if they wanted to get attention, - noticed Frisk who was called by the police as monsters ambassador. Indeed, they could make it quite, just like they did before. And if they wanted attention, they got it. Soon everyone knew when happened. "A monster killed by human". It wasn't obvious at the beginning why would they want such effect. But later happened another murder, and another, and another...
During all investigations and police work in which ambassador was involved as the only one being able to calm down people, the young man was struggling with another sudden and serious problem - his body was dying.
It started just after accident with soul changing. Maybe it was coincidence, maybe it triggered something that appeared after he was separated from Gaster, or maybe it was a reason. Just one day Frisk started noticing how his fingers feel less than usually. He tried to ignore but it only progressed. And later they turned dark... he still could tell if things are soft or hard, if they are sharp, but didn't feel any temperature or pain. He was trying to hide it, wearing gloves and long sleeves, it was autumn, so no one really questioned him. Time went and this weird feeling progressed. Frisk started feeling weak, he didn't want and couldn't eat, it was awhile since he last time asked for any magic or fight trainings. He had no forces for it. And it was about time to ask for help when one morning he cut his own fingers while cooking without even noticing it at all. No even knife pressure...
In some time, after few murders and panic an organization, calling itself "anti-monsters" took responsibilities for all the murders, They demanded government to throw monsters back where they belong because they are not welcomed among humans. And if they won't, they will continue it.
Not all humans thought the same, there were a lot of them who accepted monsters or liked them. And monsters brought magic back and helped a lot in science, so there was no question about it. But somehow they should be stopped. Frisk and company knew this group didn't appear by itself, someone organized them, showed them they have rights to kill monsters, provoked them. They knew who it was... but they had no evidence. And they had to get them. For now this organization pretended to be just some scientists learning about souls, magic and monsters, nothing more. And they were trusted. Much more than monsters.
And this situation became only worse every day.
One day Gaster found Frisk on near his house, young man was trying to get some help, but fell unconscious.

After some tests, Gaster came to a conclusion that his body overused soul magic and now can't function anymore. Maybe when Gaster left he took too much with him. Or maybe other soul messed up something. But now slowly Frisk was dying. At least his body. It was losing it's abilities and very possible, one day it will dust away because of overuse and overcome limits. Scientist told that maybe, just maybe, he will be able to slow it down and this will give them more time to find a solution. But for now... he was very sorry.
- Don't blame yourself, - whispered Frisk trying to look calm and confident. He was terrified, didn't want to die, wasn't ready for it but... he didn't want Gaster to feel guilty about it. Even if he possibly was. It didn't matter as much.
As if this wasn't enough, situation with "anti-monsters" progressed. They started hurting humans who were pro-monsters, who were on their side. At this point organization lost control over them. They tried to put them on their place but failed, they just created a true monster who felt it's impunity.

One day, when Frisk already had to hide his face under a scarf because of black veins on it Sans called him and asked to come at the hospital. Apparently a barman girl he met many months ago was attacked by "anti-monsters" as she was always on monsters' side and often was saw on protests. She survived, more like saved by a witness, and the only number she could remember was Sans' as she had to call him very often for a job.
Now they had an alive and willing to cooperate witness.
It got them some time... alright, a lot of time, but they tracked down "anti-monsters"'s leader and were working on taking them all, when time decided it doesn't want any delays anymore.
