Ys IX came out and I started playing it! So far I'm enjoying it. I like being able to get around much easier using the monstrum powers, such as being able to run up walls and hop around the roofs of buildings. They also give you the double jump way early in the game. It wasn't until past the halfway point in Ys VIII that they handed that ability over to you. Another fun bit was the beginning poking fun at the franchise as a whole, like questioning how Adol manages to get into all these insane situations, and the fact he loses all his cool legendary weaponry after every adventure with no explanation as to why they go missing. My only real complaint is mostly subjective, in that I liked the Isle of Seiren than the prison city Balduq. Seiren had the cool castaway island theme going on with some upbeat fun adventure music. Balduq, on the other hand, is mostly a drab looking city. Also they nerfed Adol's ability to jump/dash at the speed of light. I'm still way early in the game to judge the story and all that, but White Cat is a cutie patootie.
