Life after Onlyfans. Long awaited story :)

How it started. Pre-OF life

For those who don't know, I am a nude model who has a hard time existing on social media because my work cannot be published there, no matter whether it is censored or not, artistic or not. Previously, when it was possible with censorship, everyone admired it, shared your photos and your popularity grew. Then it got worse, and then it became utterly disgusting. But, well, we didn't gather here to complain :)

To show my work somewhere legally and stress-free, I started a Patreon in 2019, and we are still happily communicating here. Patreon allows creators to publish their art without censorship, while pornography and erotica, which initially seemed to be allowed, were delicately expelled from the platform.

During the pandemic, Patreon was my primary source of income; I am incredibly grateful to the subscribers who did not let me die of hunger:) But jokes aside, before the pandemic, very few people had such pages. So, I was in a very advantageous situation.

However, while I was staying at home and unable to travel, the idea arose to expand the possibilities of passive income, and that's how Onlyfans came into my life.

If you were born yesterday - OF is a platform where nude content is also allowed without censorship. But the focus is shifted towards online sex work, as there was no other place for it like that back in 2020.

Do I have anything against sex workers? No. I support and rejoice for all my friends who, with comfort and harmony with themselves, were able to enter this area and earn capital from it for further development. But personally, I don't see myself in this area and never have. It's not about shame or reputation. I just don't want to be an accountant, a hairdresser, a marketologist, a doctor, or a sex worker either.

Therefore, when creating an account on the OF, I wanted to come up with some project for myself that would make sense on this platform and, at the same time, would not be too erotic. Thus began my series of self-photo shoots in a duet with other models. I met many fascinating people, some of whom are still my close friends. But very quickly, the duets became obsolete because, in general, they all revolve around a theme.

So naturally my OF slipped into a backstage account. There were a lot of advantages in it. No matter how boring or creatively failed shooting happened to me, I didn't feel at a loss because I could take a couple of selfies during the break without even taking up the photographer's time. I had straightforward, ready-made ( nude) content for OF. Central theme "I'm beautiful and naked; look at me".

Why it stopped being great

That OF arrangement was nice only when there was a large Instagram and a lot of subscribers. When my first Instagram (150k) was deleted, I had 5 times fewer people wanting to watch my bts. and over time, it turned out that I was taking selfies for a couple of active people and some random passers-by.

Yet, from the outside, a "model from OF" is automatically considered the daughter of vice and debauchery, which means I have a corresponding reputation among agencies and advertisers. And this would not be a problem if earnings from the OF covered the potentially lost benefit. But earnings from the OF turned into a couple of hundred dollars a month for tons of naked selfies on the phone, which you constantly need to hide somewhere before crossing the border (yes, when you travel outside of cozy EU, there is always a risk your phone will get searched) :)

Also, since last year, both professionally and personally, I met a lot of people outside of the creative world, and it became very annoying to explain every time what exactly I am doing on Onlyfans (even though everyone would say that they wouldn't judge me, but of course, everyone does judge)

As a result, on my birthday, as a form of a self-gift, I allowed myself to say goodbye to the platform, which caused so much discomfort and so little money.

Did it become easier for me - in every sense except financial - I feel relieved. Thinking of sexy selfies every day was very exhausting, who could have predicted that? :)

Some wisdom

If you are a nude model and you want to make some extra income, thinking about OF, here is some of my advice.

Make sure you are ready to face the sex-work-related side of the internet.

Make sure you have time and energy to build personal relations with your followers; main money on OF is not made through subscriptions, so you either have to hire someone or be ready to talk with a lot of strangers (some of whom are horny)

Make sure you have time and energy to post very often, and that you have some places where you can promote your OF. there is no inner traffic, so it is impossible to get followers without advertising your page on your Instagram, X, Tiktok (yet, having the risk of build-in censorship)

There are a lot of censorship specifics inside of OF too, like for example public nudity is not allowed (so many of my artistic (in my opinion) shoots early morning in the city were a violation). As well as photos that the OF algorithm can consider "a model is sleeping". So some of my photos on a bed, facing away from the camera or with eyes closed - were also not allowed. There might be much more, but I triggered the algorithm only in these two categories.
