AY
Two weeks are past. Update time!!
I have a bunch of things to go over.
Let us start immediately...
We've been experimenting with our new 'panel' aesthetic and how exactly to go about it.
Today, this has beareden fruit, as I got the opportunity to actually edit a panel for the first episode of Hunter: The Parenting.
The events of the video do not neccesarily represent the events of the first episode but it was done nevertheless Big-D is killed off immediately it was for the best RIP fucker time to kick speakerd off the project hehe owned.........
This is still very much in an experimental stage, this was the very first panel we've drawn for anything and the style is deliberately fairly simplistic.
The style here is meant to be scaleable, in that the 'quality' of each panel will be able to be scaled up or down if the focus is quality or quantity for any given scene.
In a scene where panels fly by at the speed of sound, the quality can be scaled down so as to make it easier to draw 50 panels in a shorter amount of time.
For, like, big, serious scenes where characters are posing and looking cool badass oily YEAGH then we can scale quality way up and spend more time on it, is the thought.
All in all, though, this was EXTREMELY satisfying from an editor's point of view and I cannot wait to edit more of these once they're finished up.
I'll probably release more edits like these in coming updates.
For the past few weeks, considering all of the projects we've take upon, we've have been thinking... how should we schedule all of this?
Releasing one episode of each series we want to work on in whatever order we please is entirely untenable. We would just be releasing a hodge-podge of random things without any knowledge of when the next episode of whatever thing you want to watch will return.
Even releasing them a singular episodes in some kind of chronological order would probably still be rather unsatisfying and distressing.
Focusing on one series at the time and just releasing each episode of whatever we want to work on until its done is also not really tenable for what we want for the channel.
Sure, having a focus is a good thing, but if we just focus on one singular thing, we will be digging ourselves down into that particular space and leaving it afterwards for something completely different will be quite awkward.
We realise that going for ultimate creative liberty and being able to establish a channel that focuses on a myriad of different franchises is, in and of itself, a big risk.
There must be some kind of focus lest viewers will quickly lose interest.
Yet if we only focus in one one thing, we will be stuck with that thing, and that's another thing we really do not want, as you can imagine.
So, the format that is essentially the best we could come up with is this;
We have about six different projects we would like to work on currently.
But we do not have the resources to work on them all at once and expect it to go well.
So, what we will do instead is exclusively only work on three projects at any given time.
The three openings for these projects you could probably call 'Slots', like slots for TV shows yknow?? Remember TV????
The first projects that will take a slot each are these;
Slot 1 - Hunter: The Parenting (World of Darkness Project)
Slot 2 - Half-Life: Zero Viscosity (Half-Life Project)
Slot 3 - On the Inward Bounder (Stellaris Project)
Once one of these shows ends (and there are endings in sight for all of these projects), we will move onto one of our next projects, which will take its Slot.
When release-time comes, these Slots will get up to three episodes dedicated to them each before we move on to the next Slot.
This means that we will start with three episodes of Hunter: The Parenting, then we will move on to three episodes of Half-Life: Zero Viscosity and, finally, move onto three episodes of On the Inward Bounder, before we move back to another three episodes of Hunter: The Parenting.
With this, we are treating each three-episode package as its own little 'arc', or 'mini-season'.
Whilst each show will of course have its own overarching plot, we will focus on having each of the three episodes being a contained little story that has a solid beginning, middle and end.
The reason for this is to give viewers of each show some feeling of contentment after watching the three episode arc, avoiding a constant deluge of cliffhangers and hanging storythreads for you to have to wait maybe months to actually see returned to.
Sure, there still will be cliffhangers eventually as the stories ramp up, it is inevitable.
But we want to avoid leaning on it as much as possible so as to not make the waits unbearable...
It is also worth noting that not every project is the length of a whole 30 episode series.
In fact, we'd like none to be.
Our current longest running project is Hunter: The Parenting at 15 episodes at the time of writing, whilst our shortest is Half-Life: Zero Viscosity at only 3 episodes (lol).
This means that Zero Viscosity will leave its Slot and be replaced by something else after just one Slot-Rotation, whilst Hunter will stay around for five Slot-Rotations.
This gives us the opportunity to tell some shorter, denser stories now and again whilst also getting to do big, fat projects that take years to conclude, as you have come to expect.
We think this is the best way of going about it. Of course, not perfect, but way better than any of the alternatives, giving us both freedom and giving you, as viewers, some satisfaction and some sense of what is coming up next at any given time.
_______
Now, I'm sorry to leave it here for now but I gotta,
I started writing this update way later than I should've, I have to go and eat dinner and have a good time with my FAIL FAMILY UGH.........
Let it be known, though, that we've finished three scripts for Hunter, one script for Half-Life and one script for Stellaris (last two still do need a little bit of editing but nothing major).
Just as I wanted in the last update, we've also started recording voicelines and, as you can see, even started doing some editing.
In addition, we are looking into hiring more illustrators and are in contact with some people who have a looooooot of potential to help out.
Thanks for that, by the way, again.
Also, highly considering an Elder Scrolls project in the future as we looked at Bethesdas fan-content policy and it's actually quite good.
All in all, things are looking NICE.
Until next time, have a good one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
