AY
Been a slight bit longer than two weeks. Sorry about that. The reason is attached in the image above. I now have two goblins in my lap, one of whom is extra small baby size currently. This is going to be my work-life from here on out.
So, FINALLY the Fantasy Special has entered post! And also, hah, uh, yeah, it is just over 50 minutes in length after all.
Now, I will be entering the Rendering/Subtitling Purgatory for a while. It's still going to take a while to get fully finished unfortunately, and I cannot give any proper ETA due to render times being very treacherous, but I am going to try my hardest to get it done before the end of the month.
I also have some absolutely amazing news.
These news will be the majority of the update, but they deserve all the space they're getting here, I promise.
Many of you know of StringStorm, the guy who's graciously been helping me out with audiowork and making some brilliant original soundtracks for the show since 2014.
People who've been around for a while know that he's suffered through some absolutely horrid adversities, not the least of which has been a tumour in his lung.
I'm going to be providing some backstory for those unaware.
Unable to work due to sickness, he lived at a hospice shelter which provided him with experimental treatments, paying him for the sake of testing potential cures on his body. As I understand it, a law passed rendering him unable to receive more of these treatments, and due to a lack of universal healthcare, he was thrown out of the shelter and ended up homeless.
A real low point followed, where he lived in an abandoned gymnasium with a potentially deadly ailment, barely any food, barely any money and a multitude of other misfortunes befalling him like getting robbed, bracing for a giant typhoon bearing down on the country and having a roof fall on him resulting in a deep cut which he had to disinfect and cover using only boiling water and a shirt.
But he did still have his laptop.
With this laptop, using public wifi, he managed to keep creating music for both TTS and his own channel. During this time, he created a Patreon account, one which I and the rest of the crew signal boosted as much as we could. A slew of generous people came in and pledged, enough to actually provide him a relatively decent living wage when converted from dollars to philippine pesos.
Since then, he has worked his fucking ass off making music for both TTS and his channel. He spent most of the time in the day just working, slowly pulling himself out of the financial situation he was in with the limited resources he could muster.
With time though, thanks to this grueling work, he has now been able to pay his medical bills, get a roof over his head, pay for all kinds of living necessities and even been able to rent a breathing machine helping out his strained lungs.
While he's still suffered through some additional misfortunes, like being chased down and sued by the hospice shelter, things have finally been looking more stable as of late, and now the best news possible came when his doctor informed him that the tumour in his lung had regressed and become benign.
This is absolutely amazing and I am increeeeeeeeeedibly happy for him!!
This chapter in his life is now closed, and he intends on keeping up with his work, especially the 40K Idols series he has started focusing on.
The thing that has consistently amazed me the most throughout my time knowing String, however, has been the fact that throughout all of this, through all the shit he's been through, he has remained intensely humble and selfless, always sticking to his morals even when detrimental to his situation. He's always insisted that he wants money for fair work, not donations. Every time I've thrown money his way purely and strictly to make his life easier, he's made attempts at rejecting it, telling me he feels sick at the thought of leeching off of other people.
No one should ever have to prove the moral fiber of their being when faced with a life and death situation such as the one he's been through, yet he's stuck to his sense of right in a way you only see in characters out of stories.
It is something I will never truly be able to fully grasp, but it's something I know I look upon with total, unreserved admiration.
And, uh, yeah, I know how he probably feels about me saying this, but I am going to say it anyway; you should pledge to String's patreon, help him keep up with his work!
I know he doesn't want donations out of any sense of pity, he only wants payment for the music he provides. But if you like TTS enough to pledge to THIS Patreon, you've probably heard and appreciated his tracks multiple times already at this point.
This man deserves every single dollar he can get.
That'll be that for this update.
By the next update, I'm hoping to either be done with post or have made some major strides with it, in addition to preparing to start up EP28 again from where I left off.
Until next time, have a good one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
