The Last Church "Review" Preview, REQUIRE MORE FEEDBACK!

AY!

So, while editing the upcoming video starring Kitten, Magnus and Tzeentch, I am also now and again editing the "review" video of The Last Church by Graham McNeill! Or well, not really a review since I won't flaunt my pointless opinions around, it's rather there to extract lore out of the story on a depth not seen anywhere before.

It is not really done yet, there is still another 20+ minutes to cover, but its very easily edited so its not really a problem. I just wanted to show you guys a 6 minute snippet presenting an intro and an explanatio nof the story's setting to you, so you can tell me what you think of my current approach!

I am probably going to make the text have a lighter outline so its easier to read, but other than that I'm unsure, so if you have any additional suggestions for visual changes or changes in audio, I'm all ears!

AND, for the record, I think I have decided upon the name of this typ of video: "Ex Libris", suggested by  Ayur Sandanov here on Patreon! As the explained, Ex Libris means "from the books belonging to -", and then, depending on what kind of book I am covering, I'll simply end it with a latin word that fits, in this case being 'Imperatoris' (so "From the books belonging to the Emperor").

Other titles I highly considered were:

Lorehammer by  SexualYeti

Vox Apocrypha by  Paul Calhoun

The Case Files of Bruce Norring by  Jack Ponder  (should totally save this for another show)

Estate Imperium: The Texts of Warhammer 40k by  Kaitlin Stevens

Tomes of Terra by  Kaitlin Stevens

Tales from the fucking something because "Tales from the whatever" is always great by  medhathobo

Thanks to everyone for your great suggestions! Now I'll go back to working.

Emperor bless <3

If you still need a title, I suggest "Space Marine Story Time"

I feel like it might be slightly hard to read the text you might want to give it a second color or a glow to it so that it stands a bit out from the background.

YES

I also love the fucking idea too baby cakes. Just you know careful with the amount of penises in something because i know you snow bunnies love talking about penises for some reason.

DUDE! i fucking loved this audiobook. It was amazing and it was actually the words of Big E himself.

Love it but we have to know stuff? O.o

Steven

what they said ^

As many people mentioned, text is not easily read, and we need more light when you showcase the actual book. Other than that, excellent work!

John Kourou

I like the background a lot and agree that a lighter text is needed but I keep thinking it over in my head and I feel like the background might still be a little distracting while you're going over things. Perhaps a parchment or a scroll could unfurl horizontally over the background once you start going in depth on the subject book. It will be easier on the eyes in every manner and still fit with the theme you have here, and you can still keep that current background. This also gives the image of a thematic Letterbox.

Text would be the first. Then I would make sure you show the book in better light. I may lower the background audio a bit, it can get a little overpowering but that just may be me.

LewaNova

Can you put a spotlight on the book, and lighten the text, maybe a gold or white colour

Comstar (Not the phone company from the 3200's)

You read it well, and seem to be covering the material pretty consistently, so it all looks good to me.

Paul Calhoun

This is an interesting new direction. Book reviews are a rarity in the wh40k community and I look forward to seeing where this leads to.

Commissar Elusive

Looks good though if you could change the damned text color into something that stands out more from the background.

Since you've already addressed the outline, I'd also suggest that for those segments where you're showing off the book, put a light source in front of the book so that it's easier to see what you're showing off. I know you're obviously going for the "candlelight at night" aesthetic, but it defeats the purpose of showing something off if you can't see it well, you know?

Nostalgia

I look forward to the full version of this. Keep up up the awesome work Alfa!

Brett Rudd

I've been enjoying thus far, and my opinion is the same. Great so far, and only the text needs to be changed to be more visible.

Hariman

All you need is to make the text have a lighted outline so we can see most of what is written by you, Bus-senpai~ Other than that its good enough. I am more of a "TTS" person than a INDEPTH lore person. But it was nice to just.. Sit back, read and listen.

Definitely go with some better contrast on the lettering, as it's kinda tough to read at times. I know it's more about the audio, but if you have text, it should be nice and easy on the eyes. I really like the overall feel of it, though. The candles and crackling fire sound add atmosphere that is perfect for the format. Are you also planning to make use of the background layer? The "viewport" you've got going would be a great place to have art visuals back up whatever is being discussed, where appropriate (and where possible with copyrights and all). But even without, it's still a good look for just discussing books!

The lighter outline would be a good idea since i think the letters kindda blend with the background making it a little hard to read. Other than that, still good!
