Here's the latest Honest Government Ad, you've helped to make possible: Visit New Zealand!

This was one of our most requested international topics. And we've had so many requests from Kiwis (some of them quite desperate) to make an Honest NZ Government Ad for them, that I decided we should help them out.

But nothing prepared me for how bad things are in NZ right now. And when I visited Auckland last month (my first time in Aotearoa), I was struck by how little we, here in Australia, know about what's happening across the ditch. And vice-versa, too.

This is a problem. Coz fighting shitfuckery domestically is all well and good, but unless we're planning to play wack-a-mole for the decades to come, we need to do so internationally, too.

Because if the only option left is to emigrate to some "better place" - as Kiwis are currently doing in unprecedented numbers - soon there will be nowhere "better" to emigrate to.

And nowehere is this more evident than in the case of New Zealand, which so many people - myself included - have long imagined to be a haven of nature and democracy in the unfolding climate crisis. (The 100% Pure New Zealand marketing campaign was very effective.)
