News & Update - A Masterpiece For The Ages

I finally received news from artist Turbun. I have received bits and pieces of the commission for the next CG scene of my game The Bodyguard Girl Is Too Strong Deluxe, and the work shown so far blows away everything they've previously done for the project.

It is so great, in fact, I've framed it in order to tease you with it.

There are some alternate layers still missing (for animation purposes) so I won't start work on it right away, and due to the artist's current situation, it is unclear if delivery can happen in time for a new build of the game this month, but the wait is definitely worth it.

---

Instead, my attention is turning towards a new build of Don't Flex On Me Yumi-Chan!!! I have a pretty clear vision of what the next episode is about, and I have been hiding an alternate version of an earlier CG scene to be used in an emergency. I think the time has come to take it out and make a new scene with it. I am certain you won't be disappointed.

This would mark the beginning of Episode 7 in the game. I originally wanted to create something similar to a whole season of an anime, aiming at 12 episodes, but right now I'm considering stopping at 8 or 9 episodes instead.

The character arcs could reasonably be completed inside 8 episodes, although 9 episodes would allow for more space to breathe and a clearer, more complete ending. I am eager to complete the game because I believe it has a high commercial success potential, with very professional art, that looks more "standard", in regards to character proportions and stuff.

Perhaps I'm just high off of the release of my latest game.

---

Speaking of that release, My Oppai Mommy Is Making Me Want To Spill All Of My Company Secrets has been a humble success so far. To give you an idea, I've accumulated 1,200$ (like, EXACTLY 1,200) of revenue on Steam and about 215$ on Itchio since the release of the game. Now that the initial 15% off rebate has ended, the sales have stopped too. But that's to be expected, it's the nature of the game. No matter how low you're going to price your work, people just buy games on sale, man. It's how the world turns.

I expect a few more odd full-priced sales here and there until the end of September, and I project that the release of the game will have given me just about 1,500$, give-or-take. That about recoups the expenses for the art of the game, with a little bit of profit from me, that I'll probably just keep in the coffers of the company, in order to spend for more art.

When they warn people not to expect to live off of indie game development, you should listen to the advice.

On a more positive note, the game had the most wishlist on Steam from any other of my releases, and I believe it shows in its initial sale performance, which tells me I should create store pages for my upcoming games sooner, in order to accumulate even more wishlists.

I'm also thinking about creating a 'clean' version of the Yumi-Chan game, with the H-scenes removed, just so that more people could play the game and enjoy its more comedic and wholesome content. Do you think it's a good idea? Or will I just make it more confusing for players shopping around on Steam?

---

And that's it. The power is out at my work today, so I was given an unexpected day off, which I will be spending writing the first part of the next episode of Yumi-Chan, while listening to relaxing dark-ambient music. It's been my jam lately. Dark ambient music, and Youtube videos about visiting empty Garry's Mod liminal maps. Those are signs that Halloween is slowing creeping up on us, and it's getting me pretty excited.

I hope you also take time to chill and relax to some cool ambient music this week. I'll see you guys later with more news on my progress. Until then, stay safe out there!
