500 Backers: Thank You

Thanks so much to everyone currently backing the Patreon, and to all the former backers. They can't read this but they were and are appreciated for their support. The Patreon has been a lifeline during the past few years while things have been all over the place. I try to make it worth your support and I hope you're all enjoying the site. If you're new here, thanks again, there are hundreds of posts for you to check out. The hashtags (comics, process, my brilliant career, and comics/projects by title, et al) will help you find all sorts of stuff.

Ongoing features are The World's Funnest Retrospective, the horror comic "Experiment" drawings, comics , comics about making comics, and checklists/bibliographies.

I'm trying to keep up with posts here while I'm unable to do much new drawing, scroll back and you'll see I've been dipping into old projects and rare art. I'm dealing with severe pain in my arm and drawing hand right now, currently seeking treatment at a neurologist. I'm also having issues stemming from COVID, I'm sleeping two-thirds of the day and fatigues the rest of the day. It's a pretty depressing situation. I have been unable to do much work the past two months and have been staying afloat selling art. I have work, fortunately, but have been hard-pressed to keep up while in poor health. I'll be better, I have no doubt about it, but it's taking longer than anyone expected (and then there's the bad tooth, amping the COVID headaches, oy). Just a run of poor luck to get through. I have deadlines, six ridiculously late commissions and was offered a variant cover gig with an extended deadline (and a very nice rate). The new Beasts of Burden series has been pushed back for reasons beyond my control, but it is still happening. Everything's very up-and-down. Fortunately an unexpected royalty check showed up from Marvel (for the Predator Omnibus, which features nine issues I worked on back in the 90s) and that helped things out in June. It's all spinning plates, juggling and tap dancing while having fireworks shot at you, i.e., freelancing. I'm not the only one on the treadmill, obviously.

Anyway, that's where things are if you weren't aware. Not complaining, just explaining. Things could be a ton worse, and I know way too many people who are also scrabbling and struggling while everything seems to be flying apart in society.

More soon, later.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the kind words, thank you!

Evan, your stuff was and is fantastic and it is so much fun, if not always funny, to follow you here and read all your insight and see all the projects I wasn’t even aware of till now. Thanks for keeping this up! Hope you can feel better soon and things will continue to improve. As a freelancer myself I can very much relate to what you’re saying. Fingers crossed.

Thank you, folks!
