Update 4-21-23

Recent Patreon book orders have started going out, I will be sending e-mails to customers with tracking numbers sometime tonight. The last half of the book orders will go out asap, I'm still sketching some of the books.

The Bim Skala Bim covers album has been pushed back to may. Apparently they're assembling tracks for further volumes. I don't know if we'll be doing additional art for those volumes or if they're going to repurpose the first cover. Knowing the budget everyone's dealing with and all, I assume the latter (and I say that without rancor, this is a thoroughly indy effort and I didn't draw the cover for the money, if you know what I mean. If I could I'd draw new covers for free. back in the day it's the kind of thing I would've done just because t would be fun and would help out). Sarah's working on the cover assembly and colors, the pushed-back date definitely helps us out because she is not at full speed, obviously. And nobody wants to rush her, everyone's aware of everything that's been going on. Anyway, it should be available soon digitally, I believe there are CD and vinyl. Which would be very cool, I haven't done an LP cover in thirty years, and that was art taken from something already done (A Pirate Corp$! pin-up for an Amazing Heroes previews issue, for the Mashin' Up The Nation album. Fun Fact: In a deadline pinch I traced off part of that pin-up for the opening page of Bill & Ted's Excellent Comic #11, where they attend a Planet of the Apes marathon).

In case anyone's wondering, the next Beasts of Burden series is still on, it's just on hold while artist Benjamin Dewey takes a break from comic interiors. I still haven't finished the first script, basically, because that won't pay for a month (at least) and I need every stupid dollar I can make as soon as possible (as in tomorrow). So the break is a bummer for the schedule, which is already a disaster and always has been since the first series, but on the other hand, I can try to deal with the last six late commissions and the WFH pages I'm doing with some friends this month. And selling stuff. And the Patreon.

Speaking of which, I'm working on the Fifth Dimension/Jim Woodring section of the World's Funnest retrospective. It's been a while since the previous segment. After this comes the Fourth World/David Mazzucchelli segment, which is one of my favorites from the comic.

Speaking of comics, the Fight-Man one-shot turned 30 years old this year. Someone on Twitter pointed it out, I would have probably forgotten. The (poor) image above is a promotional piece done back in the day for the distribution sales book. back when the direct market had multiple distributors. I don't have much Fight-Man ephemera floating around other than scans of xeroxes of the pencils. I don't think I have script material, which would have consisted of dialogue, I made up most of Fight-Man on the fly from a very loose plot, ala Bill and Ted. I may have posted the scripts for the Agent X comics I wrote that had Fight-Man guest starring. I'll try to remember to look. Maybe I'll post the pencils in batches.

What else? Working on the layouts for the four pages of comics I mentioned, trying to finish a M&C 11 x 17 pinup to have something to sell, working on commission pencils, working on a M&C index card drawing for a trade, working on e-mail/DMs, working on some donuts, working on getting my head together. Today, mostly scanning stuff, thumbnail layout stuff and the donuts. I didn't get drunk (or drink anything, actually) for my birthday like I planned so I have the day to myself instead of the hangover-haze laze-a-thon I was expecting.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Oh, right. I also have half an Italian hero I got from Shoprite yesterday. Don't have to eat Cream of Wheat tonight. Wild!

It's getting there. So many lines. It's practically art therapy now...
