Raw inks for a planned DJ premium for the upcoming WFMU fundraising marathon. Due to an unfortunate circumstance (that didn't involve the art end of things) the premium will have to be banked for (hopefully) next year's marathon. DJ Fox is going to use the image for her WFMU home page and stuff in the meantime (her show is Blah Blah Woof Woof, Wed "overnight" airing from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m.). If things work out next year this will be fourth drawing for a WFMU marathon premium. I wish I could do something every year. I was asked to draw something as part of another DJ's premium but I haven't heard back from them about how the list of artists is filling out for the project. I'm really busy so I almost sort of hope they don't need me. Anyway, the Fox drawing is inked, but the project is still a WIP. Or something like that. I'm very tired.
If you're a WFMU listener hopefully you already have earmarked a few bucks to toss at the Freeform Station of the Nation, the Fun 91, WFMU this month. A real independent radio institution with real live DJs, no ads, corporate backing or algorithms. The marathon starts on Monday, march 6th, and the big draw that evening is Yo La Tango's annual live playing of requests for listener donations. The station is already at 20% of their goal before the on-air fundraising has started, which is amazing. WFMU currently has the main broadcast/stream, three sister streams, and they back up and archive every show so folks can listen to them later. They are one of the few things that gives me a little hope and they're the soundtrack for much of my work.
Good night!
