The paperback edition of Hellboy: Weird Tales is now available, it includes the 10-page story I wrote and drew featuring Roger the Homunculus ("Professional Help").
You get two stories in those ten pages, involving Norwegian black metal bands, church burnings, a mysterious murder victim, a scientific Quisling cult, a psychotherapist, a BPRD mind reader whose abilities are affected by the weather, a hideous monster, a baby frost giant, and a Black and Decker cordless nail gun.
I always liked the way this one came out. I think I've discussed it here before, but this was another situation where I tried to work an area that wouldn't be covered by many other contributors. I'm one of the few who didn't go with a Hellboy story, and I think my piece is the only solo Roger story.
Sarah handled the colors and helped out with some of the dialog. The story was completed after Beasts of Burden had just started, this was an important step for me in moving into more horror/fantasy comic work. Nice to see this back in print in a new edition from Dark Horse.
