I know you're all keen to get your hands on the next version, and I'm almost there.
As promised some time ago, I changed my process. Initially, I used to render all the scenes and then do the post-work and coding after everything was rendered. This resulted in me stating I'd finished the rendering but then needing time to complete the post-work and coding.
With this latest version, I have been doing the post-work and coding after rending a scene. The benefit is being more accurate in release estimates.
I have Caprice's scene, the car ride with Kimberley and Gamer Girl's scene left to complete. I'm still targeting an August release.
Kimberley's car scene proved more difficult than first expected. I chose a city backdrop which renders quickly and allows the placement of characters in different parts of the city. Unfortunately, the way this works doesn't allow for consistent camera angles since the backdrop is projected. I'll split these up and add the background in post.
Version 4 (4.0, 4.1, and 4.2) will add more renders than versions 2 & 3 combined. While I'm proud of the scenes, this is not sustainable for quicker development.
I also want to simplify the branching paths. The Monday afternoon scenes essentially provide the player with seven main routes to choose from.
As we advance, I want to aim for no more than two routes. This allows player choice and provides replayability. There will still be routes within the scenes themselves.
Version 5 will also add a use for the panty collection. But be careful, someone might walk in on you!
