Male characters

Besides the player character, Max, there are several other male characters in the game. 

The game tracks affinity and persona statistics for the male characters in the same way as the female characters. Although this is referred to as friendship stats. The heart icon in the relationship app will change to a contact-like icon when viewing stats for the male characters.

Male characters exist for story purposes, and there is no male-on-male action. You can choose to minimize your interactions with male characters the same as any female characters you’re not interested in. However, the effects of ignoring male characters differ from that of female characters. When you ignore a woman in the game you’re essentially locking out her lewd scenes.

Let’s take a look at Ralph Cooper, Max’s best friend. If you maintain a good friendship with Ralph you can get him to cover for you. That may involve him distracting someone, lying, or picking up items you were supped to get, etc… Not maintaining that friendship means he may refuse to help you.

For Mr. Adams, the supermarket manager, it’s a matter of trust and how much he takes an interest in what you’re doing. He has a wife and daughter, both of which you can seduce. How easy that is when he’s around is down to how much he likes you.

We also have Karla’s boyfriend Noe. He thinks you’re after Karla as he sees you hanging around her house. Telling him you live next door just confuses him. What he lacks in brains, he makes up in brawn.

Some male characters are location specific and don’t have any stats. They’re not related to anyone in the game and exist purely as a plot device. An example is the electronics store manager. His behavior may change based on the story path taken, but otherwise, your interactions with him are limited.

One question people ask when there are other male characters in a game is what level of involvement they play with regards to the female characters.

Several of the mothers have husbands and they may point this out when you flirt with them.

Pursuing Caprice and not keeping her stats high will cause her to seek the attention of other male characters to make you jealous. You can avoid that by either not playing her path (i.e. don’t kiss her at the mall on the first Saturday) or keeping her stats high.

Some people might not like the idea of locking out one character, but the game has many choices which make you choose between characters. If you do pursue Caprice, you’ll be restricted on Karla’s path as she won’t be interested if she knows you are dating her little sister.
