A delight to watch both the movie and to see your reaction. Jesse Royce Landis played the mother, she was also in North by Northwest. I just love her, so much fun as an actress. This movie is another in my "infinitely rewatchable list" This movie, Rear Window, and High Society I can watch over and over again. Oh yeah, they do have something in common :D

To answer a couple of your questions and a thought: Yes, it was Hitchcock in the back of the bus. The actress who played the mother was in many, many movies – you have probably seen her before. I do think the film tries to make you think Grace Kelly is the Cat – the only prominent character beyond the guy who is trying to prove himself innocent. You mentioned it was different than/not as good as North by Northwest – I agree – I do think it is similar to Rear Window (outside of the same the leading lady). Thanks again. Have a great day!
