Horribly exposed in the killing ground, the brave Rangers continue to suffer losses. Even before the battle, Haeledd knew the fate that would likely befall her this day; the price she would have to pay to salve the forest’s pain. With her choking, dying, bloody breaths she prays to Kurnous the Hunter, to witness that she died bravely, as a warrior should. She prays also to Isha the Mother: To take pity on a soul surrendered freely, and see it safely through its passage into the weave of the world, and from then onwards- to whatever final destination might await it.
Beneath the continued Goblin onslaught, to remain in the open is to have one’s life measured in moments; as Nerys discovers to her regret. Too proud to cower behind a fallen log like her sisters Gwenhwyfar and Prydwen, she pays for her hubris with her life.
For the Goblins, cowering in cover behind their ramparts offers little defence: Though dwindling in number, the Elven Rangers continue to reap a righteous vengeance on the foul little creatures. Every Elven life will be paid for tenfold!
Will it be enough?
