See Bill's play HATE MAIL Live this Saturday!

Hey RiffTrax fans! Our own Bill Corbett is producing an online fundraiser this Saturday, May 9th for COVID-19 relief, and he'd love for you, our dearest Traxians, to join in!

Rhea Seehorn, aka Kim Wexler of Better Call Saul, and Paul F. Tompkins of Bojack Horseman, Mr. Show (and a certain Summer Shorts Beach Party) perform the two-character comedy HATE MAIL, live in quarantine! HATE MAIL is co-written by Bill and playwright Kira Obolensky.

All proceeds from this live streaming event will go to Partners in Health, to provide communities impacted by the coronavirus pandemic with much-needed medical help and supplies.

Please tune in at 6pm Pacific Time / 9pm Eastern for this live play performance, and help us get COVID-19 medical help and supplies to those in need!

I watched it and totally enjoyed it. Great performances, funny script. It was really fun. Nice work!

Really enjoyed Hate Mail - well written and well-performed! If this is available for purchase and download at some point I would love a copy.

Great look at the way people get way out of sorts on social media - and the play was 20 years old! A little Firesign Theaterish - lots of material to ponder - great job Bill, Kira, Rhea & Paul!

Bill, I've been banned from twitter so I can't comment there, but Hate Mail was fantastic. Paul and Rhea were great.

Hey Joshua, it's looking like we WILL be able to sell this afterward. You'll be able to watch at the same place as the ticket, and I think it will be for sale on Vimeo beyond that. Still working out details, but I hope this helps! -Erik

Interested in this! But due to Time Zone Issues (c), I'm not sure my expat self will be able to catch this live. Will there be on-demand-viewing options for those of us unable to catch it live?

Joshua L.

There are some questions about whether or not we'll be able to sell it. Still waiting on an answer, but we're hopeful it'll happen!

Stupid question: registered for two tickets about 3 hours ago. The charge shows on my card (pending, but there), but I’ve not received any sort of email confirmation or viewing instructions. Junk folder has nothing. Did anyone else have a long wait?

Rudiger

Just registered! Looking forward to it!!

Paul F. Tompkins was also a part of the House on Haunted Hill live show, being hired and fired within three minutes.

Is there any chance we'd be able to see a captured version at a later date? Weirdly, I have a previous engagement, but I've been curious about Bill's play for ages.

Here's the official(?) synopsis that I found on Google books: "Hate Mail is an epistolary play something like Love Letters, with two actors reading letters and other correspondence, but it's a little wilder and more hysterically funny. It tells the story of Preston, a spoiled rich kid who meets his match in Dahlia, an angst-filled artist. Their worlds collide when Preston sends a complaint letter that gets Dahlia fired from her job, and then there's no turning back. The play stays with their increasingly crazed correspondence as they move from hate to love, and then right back again." I've read it (Bill signed a copy for me way back when) and it is really funny. I've never gotten to see it performed, so this will be a treat, and I'll be in the virtual audience with you! - Erik

We're not going to get a romantic date at the theater in the days of COVID-19. So I guess take out and this stream will have to do. πŸ˜ƒ What's the play about?
