Thoughts about future: Behind the scenes?

I've been thinking about Project L a lot recently, as I'm _still_ waiting for my stuff - including all my latex and computer equipment - to arrive from Malta. Thinking is all I really can do.

Let's talk about behind the scenes of Project L.

Ever since the beginning I've had this so-and-so feeling about the behind the scenes of Project L, because in my opinion they devalue the project quite a lot. What I mean by this is that in my opinion it reveals quite a lot of the "magic" behind the scenes, if I choose to show multiple photos of a similar pose, situation etc.

Because let's face it - one pose has seldomly only one magically excellent photo taken of it; instead it's the best photo of multiple pics to choose from, sometimes dozens. Are the eyes properly open? Where is the model looking? Is the model's mouth open? Are there any lone stands of hair going crazy? Does a pole grow out of the model's head? Is the model exactly in the middle of the image?

Now this selection happens all the time and shouldn't be a big surprise to anyone who knows about photography... but it still breaks the magic of Project L.

I'm not saying that I'm going to get rid of the behind the scenes, but instead I'm thinking that perhaps I should make them Patreon-only; if you want to see how the magic happens, then peeking into behind the scenes of Project L would help the project itself grow.

Following this train of thought, access to behind the scenes would then be limited to all Patrons, regardless of the amount of pledge; even the smallest support matters a lot, and I appreciate each one of you helping the project. This would, of course, add more value to your pledge and perhaps even attract a few more Patrons to support the project.

The behind the scenes videos would still remain available to everyone on YouTube; even though YouTube has recently introduced changes in how advertisements are shown in controversial videos, and flags my videos as such, asking a manual review will remove this flag and allow me to obtain even more money from the advertisements as I did before - although this is still only around 11 dollars a month in gross, but still better than before! All things add up.

Should I put the behind the scenes and outtake parts behind a paywall at Patreon, I could probably provide even more photos than before, even more failed photos that I wouldn't dare to show to all of the internet. I could be more honest and perhaps even show some photos and parts of ideas that were unsuitable for the project's very innocent style. I mean of course there are butt photos and many other silly images, as the attached photo presents.

No, I'm not making the project sexual or show anything oscene, but I could dive a bit deeper in the reality of what's going on.

Now I'm hoping to get your honest opinions about this idea - and of course knowing that it's going to be a bit saturated, as you're all ones benefiting from the change, or at least so that it does not change how much of the project you will see.

But what do you think?

What could we do more?

What do you want to see?

Are there some monthly occurances that you'd like to see, like Patreon Q&A with the models, interviews etc.?

Please let me know in the comments or via private messaging!

I'd also say that the behind the scenes material should be for Patrons only (except the videos as you wrote). And I like the idea of Interviews. You already did one on your YouTube channel a few years back, if I remember correctly. But it would be nice to ask the models about their first thoughts about and experience with latex, and maybe do some kind of follow-up video after a while about what they think and how they feel after wearing it a bunch of times. Maybe also some kind of storytime about experiences in public or something like that.

Hi-res images will come!

I like seeing the behind the scenes photos and videos, I think they're one of the highlights of your work. It's interesting to see the work that goes into preparing the shoots, and then the end result. I wouldn't mind if you put them behind the Patreon paywall though. One thing I could suggest is something I've seen other photographers do: why not put the whole sets up for supporters to download on dropbox? That way you could give supporters access to the higher resolution images, if as you say your site limits you to a smaller size.
