Added 2023-08-23 18:37:55 +0000 UTCGetting Light of my Life ready to go on Steam is a really good reason to go over the game and finally get rid of a final few placeholders or near-placeholders, and I'd like to share one of those with you here. Behold, CompuPartner 3000 in all its former glory.
The previous image was a really horrible public domain photo with a heavy filter applied, and that just looked so out of place.
In other news, I'll be preparing a little patch file you can drop into the game directory of the Steam version to turn it into the Patreon/Subscribestar backer version, if your getting it there, but prefer the backer version.
Since the Steam platform has a few restrictions, and doesn't allow for a pay-what-you-want model like Itch IO, scenes like the pinky-swear scene right at the end of chapter 1 or the air pirates scene at the end of chapter 4 don't make much sense (and are not allowed, since Steam forbids linking to other platforms), but this will be an easy way to restore them and have the game back in its original state.

That's an interesting one too, and I love GOG. I heard they curate their adult content rather strictly though so I wonder how much of a chance I have and how involved that process is there.

I think Steam put some clause in that prohibited content shouldn't be merely be disabled, it should not be present at all, after that GTA hot coffee thing back when. And chances are their audits are automated and they'll pick it right up (they definitely scan ren'py code from what I heard). Anyway, I got the infra set up now so it's easy to just leave it out of the shipped build entirely and not take a chance. They have a sort of take no prisoners attitude when it comes to approval I believe. Wrt the building, yeah, I could probably have done even more with it, maybe also have some sign on the building with letters hanging off or something to hightlight the decline (I thought about taking that sign form the building next door and replace the letters on there). I really love kitbashing those environments, but I will admit I timeboxed myself here on account of it being shown in the game all of three times.
