Milky Way Academy (Alien AU)

Due to humans taking so long to discover intergalactic space travel, the Milky Way has been used for centuries as a crime-capital spot. It was filled with criminal establishments such as casinos, fight rings, and drug labs.
When humans unlocked the key to space travel, the Milky Way was repossessed by the galactic council and repurposed into a tourist area for humans new to space travel. Within this was also built a space flight school for those interested in operating spaceships for a living. (Consider it a community college version of a space flight school)
At this academy is where Gene meets his three roommates, and his three partners for space travel.
Gene is one of the very first human-alien hybrids (Father was an alien, mother was a space explorer) and joins the academy to follow his mother's career.
Jareth and Cole are space elves! Cole attends a completely different school, Stardust Academy.
