How does everybody feel about proxies?

It feels like a hotly debated topic, even though I think the community is warming up to it. I myself used to think it was a terrible idea, but my old playgroup was in a massive arms race, so I think that influenced it. These days, I proxy a lot. Wizards hasn't exactly made it easy for me to justify the expense of Magic.

Anyway, this is just an excuse to show off some proxies I made for my Jund Elves Aristocrat deck. I thought my girls weren't fancy enough.

How does everybody feel about proxies? How does everybody feel about proxies? How does everybody feel about proxies?

I used to have more of an issue with Proxies as they often stood out from the otherwise uniform card design on the table (borders, text, etc), but now that Wizards is doing so many art treatments and special editions, and so many cards are just so hard to find, I don't mind anymore. I think Alter Sleeves had a lot to do with changing my mindset on that. If you're in tournaments, or you're willing to cheat somehow using them, sure. Official cards only for you. Otherwise? I love the expression proxies allow me in my deck.

My husband and I proxy anything we have at least 2 copies and costs $20+ so we can play them in multiple decks. I also have some fun proxies of very basic cards just for fun, like Pokemon themed Cultivate and Mirror Entity, and some Resident Evil characters as commanders like Lady D as Drana.
