The three found their seats.
William looked at Wyatt. It was normal for the investor to be interested in the director of the movie. After all, the director was usually the key to determining if the movie would be successful or not.
"We talked yesterday."
"I'm thankful that you gave me a chance," Wyatt replied to the young guy.
Actually, Wyatt was surprised because he didn't expect that the person he talked to yesterday was still in his teens.
The voice on the phone was deeper, so he thought it was an adult guy. But now that he saw William in person, Wyatt was speechless.
Why? Because a man in his teens who could provide hundreds of thousands of dollars was never a simple person.
"Lila talked about it and said that your script is interesting. He said I can double my money, hehe. I trust her decision."
"..."
Collin realized that the young guy probably had no idea about the intensive clauses regarding investing in movies... He suddenly thought of scamming the guy.
"Wyatt is a promising director and he will make an amazing movie that will bring you a lot of profit."
Honestly, Collin was spouting bullshit at this point. All he had was the golden words above Wyatt's head, that was the only assurance he had. It was not even an assurance at all.
Collin was gambling.
"I see, I see. Then let's sign the contract!"
William nodded.
"..."
Collin glanced at Wyatt... The young director was just happy that someone was ready to trust him, so he didn't see that something was odd.
'First of all, this guy didn't try to negotiate at all! He's just upfront. We are talking about $200 thousand, not some high school allowance,' Collin lampooned.
Most of the time, the investors would negotiate for a better deal. They would fight for a higher profit share and copyright ownership.
But this kid was different.
'... He is clueless on how movies make money.'
Well, William was still a kid after all.
This was their first meeting, Collin didn't expect that the investor would easily agree... He should have called his lawyer.
"I will call my lawyer." William stood up.
"Oh, by the way, how about I increase my investment to $300 thousand? I don't want the budget to be tight so I'll increase it." He smiled.
"Absolutely. We are glad to hear that."
Collin also stood up and called his lawyer. He didn't want to let go of this opportunity. Furthermore, a higher budget meant secure filming and better props.
As for Wyatt, he was still daydreaming. The young aspiring director was still shocked that he got an investment in just a few days.
Wyatt glanced at Collin who was sweating a little bit. He realized that he had an amazing agent! It was tough to find an investor but Collin just did that in a short amount of time.
Furthermore, Wyatt was shocked when he realized that Collin could causally go to the highest floor and look for the CEO! His status was not simple at all.
Being new in the industry, Wyatt decided that he had to stay close with his agent. An agent who had strong ties with the management could help him find jobs in the industry.
A few minutes later, two lawyers finalized the contract. William shook Collin and Wyatt's hands. He was satisfied with the deal.
"Lila said that I can make money if I invest in your project. Hehe, $300 thousand is just my monthly allowance so I hope you won't feel pressured because of my investment." William rubbed his nose, a bit shy.
"..."
Collin was speechless.
He now confirmed that this negotiation was nothing to the young guy! It was just a game for him!
Now Collin understood why William didn't fight for more benefits.
Just like that, they received $300 thousand from William.
The contract was simple. William would invest $300 thousand in exchange for 30% of the profit of the movie.
Collin and Wyatt had to return the $300 thousand to William plus the 30% profit...
That was actually an amazing deal for them! William didn't fight for the copyrights and his profit share was only 30%.
Being an agent, Collin knew that this was a feast.
