Behind The Spotlight Chapter 10

"That's what I thought!" Wyatt exclaimed. "You just came out from the hospital yesterday and now someone is talking about the script. Did you meet someone today?"

Collin combed his hair up, a smile spreading across his face. "Not much. I talked to someone."

Wyatt's excitement was obvious, even through the phone. "Dude, this is it! We did it!"

Collin chuckled. "Let's not celebrate yet. We still have a long way to go. I'm not sure if this deal will really happen. For now, focus on your job."

Wyatt's tone turned serious. "Y- Yes, I will."

He knew that he couldn't waste the chance Collin created for him. Working with Director Esteban was an opportunity. If they couldn't get investment or failed to make the movie, or their movie plopped at the box office, Wyatt had the chance to work with Director Esteban again... As long as he left a great impression. So working hard was the best decision to show that Wyatt was worth hiring.

Collin hesitated, unsure how much to reveal. "I think the person I talked to might have had a hand in it. But we'll know soon enough."

He didn't want to say that he talked to the CEO of ANT because Lila might not be comfortable with that.

As they discussed the potential investor, Collin's decision to make the film became stronger. This was a chance for him to make a name as an agent in Hollywood.

The phone interrupted his reverie. "Collin, I have to go. I'll call you later, okay?"

"Sounds good, Wyatt. We'll talk later."

Collin hung up, his eyes drifting to the stack of documents on his desk. He couldn't shake the feeling that his life was about to change dramatically. He hoped his intuition was not scamming him.

Suddenly, his office phone rang again. This time, it was an unknown number.

"Collin East speaking."

"Hello, Collin. This is Rachel, the executive assistant of CEO Seraphina from Apex Network Talent. The CEO would like to schedule a meeting with you and Wyatt to discuss your project further."

Collin's heart skipped a beat. "That's great news! When and where?"

"Tomorrow, here at Apex Network Talent, come at 2 pm." The executive assistant probably didn't know that Kazir was also working at the same building.

"We will be there."

Collin knew how hard it was to find an investment in movies. Most of the time, production studios were the ones responsible for investment and the copyrights of the movies would also be owned by them. In a way, the production studios would just hire directors to film their movies.

Sometimes, the director himself would pitch the movie to the production studio, hoping to get an investment in his project. Of course, once the production studio would invest in the movie, the copyrights of the said movie would be owned by them. At the end of the day, it was all about negotiation, and that's where agents came in.

The Agent would settle for the "right" amount that would satisfy his client.

...

The next day, Collin and Wyatt were in their formal attire, wearing suits just to look presentable.

They went to the 10th floor. Collin talked to the receptionist and explained that they have a schedule to meet the CEO.

The receptionist was a bit confused, but she indeed heard about the meeting.

"The CEO talked about it but she said that she can't attend. Instead, she wanted to introduce you to the investor." The receptionist forwarded the message that the CEO left to her.

"Is that so?"

Collin and Wyatt looked at each other.

"Please lead the way."

The two were brought to another room. A wide reception room.

Located on the highest floor, the reception room epitomized refined elegance, different from the reception place on the first floor. Warm lighting illuminated the polished marble floors. Comfortable seating areas, and tasteful artwork. All set against a stunning view of the city.

"It's nice to meet you, I'm William Edward."

A man was waiting at the reception place. He stood up and greeted Collin. He looked young, probably in his teens... He was wearing a T-shirt and baggy pants.

Collin felt like he was scammed. The man in front of him didn't look professional at all.

"I'm Collin East and this is my client, Director Wyatt Bray."

Still, Collin controlled his thoughts. What they needed was an investor and this young William could fit the criteria.
