Behind The Spotlight Chapter 8

Arnold's conversation with the CEO ended, and he put his phone back in his pocket. Unlike the usual phones that had thick bodies, Arnold's phone was on the slimmer side.

His phone was one of the latest phones released by Nokia that could be put into his pocket. Being an agent, Arnold had to show that his status was not that simple... Despite earning 7 digits per year, he actually felt bad spending a couple of thousand on a brand-new phone.

"The CEO agreed. She wants to meet you. You have a copy of the script and proposal right?"

Collin was surprised that Arnold had the guys to convince the new CEO to meet him. He was actually nervous.

"Yeah, it's on my table."

"Take it to the top floor and show it to the CEO."

"Thanks, Arnold."

"Most of the time, Producers are the ones responsible for pitching business proposals to the investors. But you guys don't have producers to take care of that. Being an agent, it will probably be tough for you to handle this."

"Yeah, but I have to."

"That's the spirit, kid."

Arnold tapped his shoulder before returning to his office.

"I have to talk to the producer to fight for Jolyne's salary. I can't help you to convince the CEO."

Collin was already thankful that Arnold gave him a chance to meet the CEO. He knew that it was almost impossible to find a person who would invest in their project. $200 thousand was not easy to find. Furthermore, the director was basically a nobody, no sane person would give them $200 thousand.

They could take a loan from the bank, but they have to show collateral. Collin also had a low credit score since he was currently in debt.

Collin returned to his table and grabbed the documents. A copy of the script and a detailed business plan that Collin and Wyatt spent time creating.

Based on their understanding, they believed that $200 thousand was enough to create the film.

Collin stepped into the elevator and pushed the 10th-floor button. This was his first time going to the highest floor. The floor was usually for important business meetings and the place where the CEO worked.

Only ten minutes passed since Arnold told him to go to the CEO's office so Collin believed that he was not late.

He found the executive assistant of the CEO who was also a new face in the company.

"Excuse me, I'm here to meet the CEO."

"Are you Sir Collin East, perhaps?" The female assistant asked.

"That's right, that's me."

"I'll take you to the office."

"Thanks."

The woman opened the door for Collin. He took a deep breath as he entered the office.

His eyes didn't look around, afraid that he would look like a bum. Instead, he stared at the woman who was sitting at her table.

The woman had black hair tied in a ponytail and green-brown eyes, which was a rare trait, by the way. She was wearing a light blue long-sleeved blouse.

Collin couldn't see if the woman was wearing pants or a skirt since she was sitting. He also didn't think much of it because he was too nervous to care.

"Mister East. It's nice to meet you. I'm the new CEO of Apex Network Talent, Lila Seraphina."

The woman stood up and shook hands with Collin. Lila was wearing a pencil skirt, by the way.

"Hello, Ma'am. I- I," Collin stuttered as he stared at the CEO. He realized that his new boss was actually gorgeous! Unlike the old CEO who was fat and over 60 years old.

But it was not the main reason why he stuttered. When he looked at the woman, he felt like he had met her somewhere but he couldn't pinpoint where.

"Okay, let's start our meeting. Arnold said you have a business proposal you want to talk to me."

"... Excuse me but have we met before?" Collin blurted that out without thinking.

Lila chuckled.

"Collin, I believe that kind of pick-up line won't work on me."

"I- I'm sorry. I just thought I met you somewhere."

"Maybe or maybe not. I don't remember you though."

Collin woke up from his stupidity and decided to take it seriously. He didn't want to fuck this meeting.

He was eager to start Wyatt's project to confirm his deduction. He felt like the hallucinations he was seeing were not simple; the words above people's heads determined their talent. The best way to confirm was by witnessing if Wyatt could really make a box office hit.
