Hollywood What If Chapter 445

January was on its last week, and some stuff happened, such as Batman Begins ending its filming. Now, Kazir had to spend most of his time in the editing room. Another tiring month for Kazir, something that he loved to do.

The 31st People's Choice Award also happened, and Johnny Depp and Julia Roberts won the most Favorite Motion Picture Actor and Actress.

In the same month, the 62nd Golden Globes Award also happened. Leonardo DiCaprio won the Best Actor in Motion Picture while Hillary Swank won the Best Actress in Motion Picture.

A lot of people kind of expected this result in the Golden Globes Award. Some were sad, while some were happy. However, the most devastated would probably be Leonardo DiCaprio and Hillary Swank. Because most of the time, the winners of the Golden Globes Awards won't win the Academy Awards at all.

It was a curse, but not foolproof. There were some cases where both won the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. Such as Cate Blanchett who won the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards in her leading role in Blue Jasmine. Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Lawrence, and Natalie Portman also had the same experience.

Anyway, Leonardo DiCaprio and Hillary Swank still have the chance... Erm, Leonardo might have a lower chance though. Because for some reason, the Academy Awards didn't like to see Leonardo win.

Aside from award shows, La La Land was also one of the promising movies that were released late last year.

As of January 28, La La Land already surpassed $100 million, grossing $103.26 million. Lionsgate was so confident in the future of this movie that they already contacted their international distributors to prepare for an international screening.

Lionsgate was not confident to say that they have a worldwide distribution. However, they indeed have distribution lines in Europe, Australia, South America, some parts of Africa, and major parts of Asia. So yeah, they have the capability to release movies internationally.

With the success of La La Land, a certain studio couldn't help but be grumpy. It was none other than 20th Century Fox. La La Land was initially introduced by Salvatore to 20th Century Fox but the studio was not confident in the genre that Fremont was trying to step into. He had a lot of genres to choose from yet he decided to go with Musical.

Even if the script was written by Kazir Grey, 20th Century Fox was still not sure about it.

And now, they regret it so much. They even talked to Kazir if he had a musical script in his arsenal. They would buy it at a high price. Kazir just shook his head.

"I can't believe we have the chance to promote here. I thought Warner Brothers would not agree."

Ryan Gosling whispered under his breath. Kazir heard what he said and chuckled. They were at the party invested by Warner Brothers to celebrate the success of Harry Potter and The Prisoner Of Azkaban.

The actor and the director had chemistry. Both Ryan and Kazir were approachable, and they were good people, so the two became close after one conversation.

Ryan Gosling has been in the industry since 1996, but he only got the biggest break in his career when he starred in The Notebook last year. That was his biggest role so far aside from La La Land.

"You have to understand politics. Warner Brothers agreed to let Fremont promote the movie on their turf because of me and Salvatore. The network we built is so wide that we have connections with every studio. Fremont's purpose is to talk to the Academy members in the party in hopes of getting their votes. Brianna is doing the same thing."

Ryan nodded. He was still new to this game.

"Another thing. You have to understand that there are no eternal enemies in this industry. Everyone might be enemies tomorrow but they can be friends today. Warmer Brothers understood that Fremont had potential. They can use this small favor to make an impression in the hopes that Fremont will sign a movie contract with them. I'll tell you this, Fremont is in demand."

"Just like you, Director Grey."

"Nah, don't flatter me. It won't work."

The two laughed.

"By the way, why are you not trying to introduce yourself to them? Maybe some members will give their votes to you."

Ryan weakly smiled.

"My agent determined that we might have a hard time winning the Best Actor this year. I'm still a nobody after all."

"But there's still a chance though."

"Yeah, but I probably can't beat Leonardo DiCaprio or Clint Eastwood."

"There's nothing wrong with trying."

Ryan shook his head and Kazir didn't force the topic.

After all, he had an idea why Ryan Gosling was not trying his best. It was probably because of his agent and PR team. They felt like it would be a lost cause to promote Ryan since his chances of winning were low.

Doing PR(Public Relations) costs money, especially when bribing the Academy members. Yes, they have to bribe those old farts in many ways just to get their votes.

Ryan was still new in the limelight, and he didn't have many resources.

"Ah, I just remember, is it true that you and Rachel McAdams are dating?"

Since the topic of "Enemy Tomorrow, Friends Today" was talked about, Kazir decided to ask about Ryan's relationship with Rachel McAdams.

Kazir heard that Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams' relationship was nothing but pure publicity. He has seen a lot of actors and actresses going into a relationship to promote their movies.

Kazir looked at Ryan Gosling's expression and realized that the actor was actually blushing!

"Excuse me, I overstepped my boundaries."

Realizing his mistake, Kazir apologized.

"N- No, it's fine. I do like Rachel, but I'm not sure about her feelings."

"..."

'So they are still not dating? I guess the tabloids and magazines are hyping their relationship, huh? But it's strange because I thought they hated each other. I guess some rumors are fake after all.'

He realized that rumors could not be trusted. He had to believe in what he saw.

++++
