The Cataphor: a Machine Heart

As many of you may know, I create concept art for Poorly Timed Games. What you may not know is, SURPRISE, I also do their body paintings!

Introducing: The Cataphor.

I can't really share much more than that (especially the lore), but I can say it features Jaren Navema underneath all of this pretty (heavy) art. The original concept was created by Jake Myler and Rowan Sherwin of Poorly Timed Games. You can find more of Rowan's work ALSO on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/RedGryphon/posts

Would you like to see progress photos of how I created this beast?

Good, please let me know below! Until then, enjoy some selected photos of this complex body painting. The helmet alone contains between 5-6 pounds of paper clay.

I had to teach myself/invent lots of techniques to create this art piece. There was so, so very much sanding. When I do this again I'm getting a belt sander.

I had intended to use similar techniques that I introduced for Cthulhu, but the Worbla didn't work out like I had liked. I determined after some trial and error it required carving/shaping.

Pretty cool right? Huge thank you to Chris Wright for this opportunity. Although I can't answer any questions about the game (sorry), you can find more information here:
