The Making of the Bioshock Inspired Body Painting - Part 1

Want me to walk you through how I created this painting with the amazing Tyler Monzingo? Let's go on a visual journey together! You are in for a treat.

We begin with the finished product. The photo above features the edited, finished photo that was first released. Most people saw this one since it was Facebook friendly.

Now if you followed my Tumblr, you might of seen this next one.

Did you see this one though? I'm fond of this, and it features feet, which I almost never show. Why? They are awkward to paint because I'm a very tall human!

So shall we dig in?

Below you can see how things began. The bottom layer of this body painting was a beautiful golden color. It can be hard to tell in some of the shots, but you can see the difference in skin color below. This was also before I shot photos in RAW format.

Look at that mischievous eyebrow!

Here is showing off the golden paint.

I covered most of his body with the color.

The back had a strange red triangle design, but we'll get into that later.

The art was loosely based on this character from Bioshock. It's a combination of Big Daddy, Big Sister, and my own spin on the video game.

I really love the belt-line featured below, don't you? I try to accent the body with art.

I don't feature enough of the rear side, or rear art in general. Would you like to see more?

Tyler is very patient, as you can imagine. He's been painted more than anyone else I've worked with. Even though we don't collaborate as much, he still manages to end up in my projects from time to time. Currently he's in Tarot.

That's it for Part One! Are you ready for Part Two?

Love,

Brandon
