Patron Announcement, Ramble, and Poll

Hey everyone!

We finally reached the end of book two! This is a bit of an update and ramble all merged together with a poll tacked on at the end.

TL;DR: Book 3 chapter one hopefully coming out next weekend, but could be on the 25th. Thoughts about book one and book two and what needs to be fixed. Poll about interest for posting three chapters for a side story I wrote a while ago (Stylish Descent, armament LitRPG, what the third dimension will be for PI).

So, my tentative plan is to push to get the first chapter of book three out by next weekend, but I could see it wrapping around to the Wednesday after at the latest (25th). Whether that does, or doesn’t happen, I have three chapters for a side story I wrote and outlined earlier this year that I’d love to post and share with you all if you’re interested. More about that later.

The main reason for this slight delay is that nearly the entirety of book two has been written, then edited and posted almost immediately ever since Eli met Maeve. I posted all my backlog too quickly for the hype, and never really recovered. My hope is that I’ll be able to write a lot of extra writing to get ahead enough that I can start posting twice a week on Patreon again.

I’ll let you all know how that goes.

Now for some of the Power Initialization stats, thoughts, and general ramblings. If this isn’t interesting, skip ahead for the poll information.

Book one ended at 131k words, give or take.

Book two ended at 173k words.

Now, I think that whenever I go back to edit book one and then book two, I’ll probably cut a lot of words by fixing up the beginning (everything pre-mall) to be a lot neater and do a better job of showing who Eli was before powers. Also tone down the Tom bullying, family drama, and just really make all of that better. I’ll also probably end book one a bit later to split some of the difference, but I’m not 100% sure about that part.

I like where book two starts, but it also has some of its problems that I can think off of the top of my head.

Primarily, I need to make it a bit clearer why and how Eli is struggling to return back home. Make him try more often. Probably tone down his infatuation for Hazel (time girl) and let that build a bit more naturally over time, it’s pretty gross in hindsight. But after that?

Roman needs more on screen reminders of what he’s actually doing. It’d make it better and more obvious when Eli realizes how bad of a friend he was being, on top of making Roman feel more like a contributing member of the team rather than a tag-along.

Right now, that’s mostly what I have for edits and thoughts about what I need to improve. I know there’s likely more fixes that I could make, but I’d say overall I’m more satisfied with book two than book one. That’s how it should be, lol right?

Anyway, Stylish Descent:

This isn’t exactly a blurb, but it also kind of is.

It follows Corva Warlyn who’s an estranged noble who left her cushy life as a paladin at the Peaks of Par Hava for the Soddens of the Low Peak. Adrift without a real cause, all she knew was that she needed to do more.

Dive cores litter the oceans making the sea level rise each time a dungeon is created. Only clearing them will make the certain doom the tides bring recede.

This isn’t exactly like PI with powers or classic LitRPG either. There aren’t classes or skills, but armaments that grant specific abilities dictated by their form and function. They can be created by either someone with a System equipping a regular item, actual crafting by someone with a System, or earned in a dive.

But that’s only half of the System.

The other half are the Style Stats which are actually metrics and multipliers that the System evaluates its user by in a variety of situations.

Brutality, Theatrical, Coolness Factor, and Flair.

Let me know if this sounds interesting to read now or later. I only have the first three chapters and an outline, but my goal is to either post it to Royal Road at the end of the year or some time in 2024.
