July Patreon reward - Kraken the Cryptic!

Did the makers of ‘Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken” decide to capitalise on our channel name sounding like from Kraken the Cryptic? Or did we just lean into a lousy pun?

Whichever, it mean that now you get the chance to try six RGTK-themed puzzles as our July monthly Patreon reward. When you have finished all the puzzles (Tentacle, Mermaids, Kraken, Trident, Ruby, and Queen of the Seven Seas), follow the extra instruction very carefully to come up with the code-phrase - to get entered into a draw to win a prize. You need to enter by July 20th (4pm UK time) by sending the phrase to crackingthecryptic@gmail.com

The document with all the puzzle links is attached.

Good luck, and Let’s Get Kraken!

I had a hard time with it. I used the fact that every mermaid have to be different, but it was not straightforward.

Killer is the variant I struggle with the most…the squaring just makes it worse. For what it’s worth…for me the 57 box was where I got hung up. Once I sorted that the rest fell along okay.

Thanks a lot. Very useful.

Thank god... I finally finished the Queen and Kraken. So the phrase was what I expected it to be. But finally I can send the solution in.

Or maybe it is

This is most certainly correct. Thank you!

“Mermaids” is the only puzzle I have left and it’s giving me a very hard time. I’ve solved the 42 and 26 clues, and I’ve pencil-marked the 32 and 28 clues, but I just can’t deduce how to move forward… any advice?

I am also stuck on Ruby, and it's not the math.

Dear Kraken, although you are a powerful sea monster minding its own aquatic business, I bet you must have heard about the almighty celestial Goddess of Modifiers, the divine Jay Dyer, also known as the Queen of the seven heavens. Be careful with using the terms "doubler" and "squarer" to indicate "doubled" or "squared" DIGITS, rather than the modifier CELLS that double or square their contents. Who knows what the Goddess would do to protect the names of her own beloved children? She might even throw at you some sudoku tsunami!

This was a lot of fun. My first hunt that I’ve completed.

Finally figured it out…my problem is I’m bad at math.

only odd numbers, but not necessarily every odd number :)

On “Tentacle”, do the rules necessarily imply that *every* odd number must be part of the path, or does the path consist of only odd numbers, but not necessarily every odd number?

Ruby is killing me…I resolved the 91 cages and the 51 and 18 cages…but I’m stuck and can’t figure how I confused the issue🤷‍♂️

4 puzzles solved, stuck on Queen, not really attempted Kraken (except for figuring out pill etc...) ---- However I think the phrase is pretty obvious at this point already :P

I found all the puzzles reasonably easy this month, with the exception of Mermaids that got me really stuck for ages, even after I read the rules properly and realised the Mermaids all had to be different :)

I really have no idea where I'm going wrong, going to have another crack at it

Ahh thank you

If you don't want to spend too much time with the final answer, this online tool makes it less annoying / cumbersome / difficult: https://www.dcode.fr/letter-number-cipher (the "brute force" option gives you all possible answers from one long string of numbers)

It just means there’s two varieties of C’s and each one of the C’s is either one version or the other.

I have a question on the C cages in Queen of the Seven Seas, I’m just a little confused on how the two different clones would work, if I could have a more in depth explanation or maybe an example I think that would help a lot

That is correct.

I've been on puzzle 2 for a while and every time I reach the same part and run into the same issue. Am I right in thinking that all the mermaids are different (I.E. if one of them is 1-2, none of the others can share that pairing?)
