April Monthly Reward - Knightmare Sudoku Pack

Hello Patreons! Thank you so much for supporting us.

As a thank you, here is our April monthly reward pack of puzzles - a brilliant set from the Skunkworks collective. Despite the date today, there is no foolery here. Many thanks to Wisteria Fall, BremSter, Fra𝜋, MavericksJD, Doran T, Dumediat, Randall, DJV, Chilly, Raumplaner, Myxo, Sotek, Jeremydover, Rockratzero and of course Riffclown. Also to the many testers and checkers! You are all stars.

The puzzles are themed on the 'Knightmare' constraint, with all the rules explained in the pdf. Instructions for submission are within, but (briefly) if you can solve the first five puzzles by 4pm on the 20th of April (UK time), you can make yourself eligible for the monthly prize, and if you can solve all 19 puzzles by the same date & time, you will be eligible for a shout-out on the channel!

Good luck, enjoy the puzzles, and remember to have Knightmares not nightmares!

And done!

Sumyrda

Thanks very much for these puzzles. Some really enthralling ones, and some I found very challenging. The constraint takes some getting used to.

Athel Stan

So I got the first 18 puzzles solved two days ago. Got the correct link to puzzle 19, but I keep breaking puzzle 19. Well, five more days to go, so I might crack it yet.

Sumyrda

A sweet and spicy puzzle pack. Thanks to sudoku skunkworks for all the effort!

N+T Sudoku Solving Ltd.

Finished 1 and 2 relatively quickly... been sitting on 3 for a few days... At this point, I'm more tracking how many ways I can break a single puzzle. lol Enjoying it all the same.

Rain

Thank you Trevor Tao for the hint. I finished the puzzle by doing exactly that before I came back to this comment. I just decided to solve 6-18 simultaneously and jump between them whenever I got stuck on one. 9 broke first, then 10 and 17 and finally 6. Now off to the rest.

Sumyrda

I just wanted to say.. puzzle #11 is far and away the hardest puzzle I’ve ever solved. I am absolutely buzzing and trying not to wake my partner with my yells of delight

Jim Newman

Six went ok for me somehow. 7 & 8 though... Yikes!

Jim Newman

2 had me completely stuck but I came back to it after #5 and somehow it just solved for me. Congratulations!

Jim Newman

Sumyrda, try rot13(crapvy znexvat pbyhza svir)

Trevor Tao

Same. I finished the first five quickly, and I have some small deductions on #6 but nothing that's doing anything interesting. I can't get the solved whisper to interact with the bottom row of boxes and there's nothing in between that's doing anything.

Sumyrda

And right after leaving that comment, I tried #2 again and finished it. There's a "trick" to using the circle info in boxes 4 and 6 that I had not heretofore appreciated which really helped.

Martin M

Got the email sent but this hunt is HARD

Christian John Hazlett

The sixth one has been brutal to me. Can't find the break-in

Mattarazzo

I have completed 1, 3 and 4 so far. I thought I had a breakthrough in #2 but I have broken the puzzle. This is the first puzzle hunt in a while that I feel I can do and I am definitely enjoying these so far but, at the same time, they are fairly doing my head in.

Martin M

5 down! E-mail sent. Let's see how the rest go...my limits are getting tested :D

Jake R

First 5 down, lovely stuff so far!

Jim Newman

Hi Matias, there's no special subject, as long as you use the code word (spelt correctly) in the email. Your name clearly matters too!

Cracking The Cryptic

Quick question, first time sending my submission! Do I need to use a special subject for the email and should I add my name to the email apart from the code word, of course. Thanks for the help!

Mattarazzo

Yes, it has to be ordered. And I got a solution out of it

Tran Hieu

Done the 1st 4, fun rule sets so far. Enjoying it.

Spooony

The Break-in on 2 is puzzling me. But my literal pencil and I are having fun.

I always enjoy knights move sudoku puzzles as the logic is usually straightforward (just with a slight bend at the end!) and solving them is a matter of patience and diligence. Thanks to skunkworks for putting out such an excellent pack with an interesting twist!

Russell Barnett

I’m deep in the middle of my first knight’s move puzzle ever - and found I had fallen into Simon’s habit of forgetting to do Suduko. I’m having tons of fun but can’t seem to access the thread for these on Discord. @Vaelkyrie#8125.

Ciarán Llachlan

The first one was really fun! I was hoping to get lots of anti-knight puzzles, because i love those, but this new ruleset is great as well.

Sumyrda

Im still working on it

Anne Loftager

and then you obtain a solution?

Vermaut Vincent

Ordered as i read the rules

Anne Loftager

In fourth problem, are lines ordered or is this possible to have 1-7-5-3 eg ?

Vermaut Vincent

First one (The Eye) helped me get my eye in. (Pun intended) Good fun, even if a bit of a brain twister. I'm going to persevere. Keep breaking nº 5. But I'm gonna get it. Not giving up. I'm gonna send in a 1st 5 entry e-mail! :-) As Falls Wisteria, So Falls Wisteria Fall. (I had to get that one off my chest. Apologies.)

Algrif

I'm struggling… keep thinking it's 5 and 10 rather than 15. First three in 10:07, 19:50, and 30:00. Hope this regular progression doesn't continue.

Kitty Angel

OMG it is difficult to scan 😱 a bit of a knightmare 🫣 i hope i can get my head on board with the new rules 😄

Anne Loftager

Actually, there IS some foolery here, since you called it the March monthly reward!
