Hemlock on the Horizon

Hi Patrons,

First of all, thank you all for your continued support for the app.  As you all have probably noticed, I’m pretty rubbish at being on Patreon – bad at posting updates and bad at engaging with you all here on Patreon.  You can always reach me at arkhamcards@gmail.com and I’ll respond as quickly as I can.

But I DO want to thank everyone for their continued support – servers in 2024 are...

TSK app preview and Arkham Nights

Thank you all as always for the support for the app.  Your contributions directly support the servers that make campaign sharing and custom fan-made content in the app possible, and I'm deeply grateful for the support.

As you've hopefully been seeing, the app continues to be receiving timely updates to support new content (and as you probably know, there's been a LOT of new content this year). Customizable was quite the challenge, but it got released and I'm pretty pleased with the...

Expanding the campaign syncing beta

Hi everyone,

It's been a long while, and work on the campaign syncing has continued. I had to take a small detour to add support for the Edge of the Earth campaign, which is now out the door and seems to have gone fairly smoothly (there are probably still a few minor mistakes, but I'm pretty happy with the turn around considering this was the largest campaign content drop in the history of the game).

As far as the campaign syncing goes, I've had about 20 people using the feature f...

Beta testing for the campaign syncing feature

Hello everyone,

Life has been getting in the way a bit these last few months, but the development of the campaign syncing feature is nearly ready to be released.  I've been testing it with my own Arkham play group for the last 3 months, and its been working pretty well.  I can't guarantee its bug free at this point though, so I'm looking for some testers who are willing to roll the dice a bit and help me with testing with their own play groups.

As described before, the f...

Debugging the campaign syncing features

Sorry for not posting for a while everyone -- I've really wanted my next announcement to be about the beta for the campaign syncing.  The good news is the feature is getting incredibly close:

1) The app works end to end, multiple people can see an edit a campaign, draw chaos tokens, and save their own deck upgrades at the end of each scenario.  I've been using it with a small friend group for the last month or so, and while we are still finding bugs its generally been pretty s...

New campaign designs

Hi everyone,

Campaign sharing is still progressing, but I needed something of a palette cleanser after wrestling the database migration for several weeks. After taking a quick detour to get the "A Light in the Fog" scenario out for the supposed release day, my designer Sarnetsky and I spent some time re-thinking the campaign overview page a bit -- which had yet to receive the real design treatment.

Key things we wanted to accomplish here:

- Keep the focus on the current scen...

Progress being made, adjusting thing behind the scenes

Been a few weeks, so thought I'd post a quick update. Campaign uploading and sharing continues to be my main goal, and there's been a lot of work going on behind the scenes to support this.

In the last few weeks:

- Added user accounts and friendship to arkhamcards.com, needed to you know who you are sharing with and receiving them from.

- Designed a data system to support campaign and grant access, including adding support for translation to the website (which was prev...

Social features are coming

Happy new year!

Since the app first launched, people have been asking for ways to share campaigns with other players in their play groups. I've wanted to to this from the start, but as you probably can imagine, adding network features is a pretty big expansion of scope.

But the work has now begun -- starting with all of the groundwork needed to enable sharing -- namely accounts and a friend graph, as well as things you need to get approved in the app stores like Apple and Google s...

New deck look and feel (WIP)

Over the time developing this app, one of the most confusing elements I've heard feedback about is the act of editing / upgrading decks. For those people that started out using ArkhamDB it probably comes naturally, but many users have started with the app now.

To help address some of these issues (as well as prepare for the ability to view decks you cannot edit -- i.e. your friends decks accessed via campaign sharing), my wonderful designer (Sarnetsky) came up with a tweaked UX structur...

Standalone Campaign Mode

Did you all know that you can run scenarios in Standalone mode as well using the app? I added this feature about a month ago -- when you start a new Campaign, there's a new option to select Standalones and it will adapt their setup instructions accordingly.

To date, I've only added the side-scenarios as well as Depths of Yoth, but it is pretty easy to add some others if you all have some favorites that you like to run in standalone mode. I've queued up "Threads of Fate", "Search for Kad...

Thank you so much for the early support!

As many of you probably know, I've been building this app for several years now. It originally started as a way for me to learn some new technologies and help manage the many campaigns I've been running, but through the feedback and encouragement of the community its grown into something I'm very proud of. And it means so much to me that you are all joining in to help me take it to the next level, and that I can do that without having to resort to ads or other cheap monetization techniques. View Post
