The guy in the corner was not Carmy's old boss, he was just some dude who looked kind of like him - when the camera is zooming in on the guy and a person passes in front of him, you'll notice a different actor is sitting there than before, though they look somewhat similar. Anyway, Carmy was only imagining that it was old boss that he saw, and that's what set off his PTSD where he flipped out on Syd and then got himself trapped in the walk-in. The funny thing is, it wouldn't really make sense for Carmy's old boss to be there that night, because: A) he works at a restaurant in New York City (Eleven Madison Park, which is a real 3 star restaurant in NYC); B) it's Friends & Family, which means everyone who is at The Bear that night was invited there by someone in the crew. Given that Carmy is the only one there who even knows this guy and he hates him, who could have possibly invited him to a private soft opening?

2024-05-15 02:14:56 +0000 UTCI’m really surprised to hear some of the audience hates Claire. Her character is basically a perfect human being — saves patients by day, empathetic and loving girlfriend by night — which is also why she seems out of place in the show. Unlike the other characters, she doesn’t seem to have any bad days, she never says the wrong thing, and she is seemingly impervious to the stresses of life. In small doses she’s fine but so far she seems very one-note and uninteresting.

It ruins a lot of shows because the will they/wont they nonsense ends up cannibalizing the rest of the show. Syd and Carmy’s story should be about two people who overcome their past and their flaws to build a restaurant and a community together. They dont have to be in a relationship to do that.
