Rafael's head snaps back. "What?"
"Thank you," you repeat. "For being here to guide me."
Rafael stares at you for a moment. You can't make out the face underneath the hood, but you can feel his eyes boring into yours. "I didn't get a choice. I'm not here for you. I'm here for me."
"I know. But you're still here, so thank you."
He makes a sound that's a mix of bafflement and annoyance, then shakes his head and turns his back on you. "Goddamn lunatics," you hear him whisper before raising his voice. "Justβ just follow me. And be quiet."
You smile at his back and do as he says, trailing towards Billy.
