So, here's the complete Chapter One! As before, this is work subject to change β I still have to receive feedback from my testers and do a deep editing after I'm done writing Chapter 2. I've found it's best not to touch a chapter for a while before I go back for the final rounds of editing. It helps me look at things with fresh eyes.
So, you may encounter typos, the occasional phrases stuck together, or page_breaks in the wrong places. It'll be polished!

You have to be as compliant and non-threatening as possible. Don't grab your weapon, don't make jokes, take her and the guard as seriously as you can - and also, maybe kiss some ass π I may have to adjust the checks a little if people are finding it too hard π€

I prefer to play merciful characters if possible, but I'm really curious to see how it all plays out with a more brutal MC, so I'm excited to explore the different paths for this first chapter! So far our stay in Tarragona has been quite messy, what with the murder, burned inn and everything, and now chased by the guards... The fact that there's the ball in like two days after all this is really funny to me, the contrast!! I also appreciate that we can tell about Joan to Hadrian and Alessa: I may not want to kill her, but that doesn't mean I can't sick my friends on her for a bit more roughing up π

I'm playing again XD I did find a couple of typos and I screen shotted them but Patreon I didn't realize didn't let you upload photos in the comments . But omg I was freaking out!!! One of the lines that the trio says I thinks it Alessa who says "let hell rain upon them" and Hadrian with his "and flames at our feet (?)" Sorry can't remember the exact quote but ahhh it got me so hyped!!! I did mean to ask if you have found typos or anything where can you report those too?

2023-03-27 14:14:50 +0000 UTCNo ships can leave or enter, yes. There's also, most likely, a big increase in security but it's not as if you can't enter from inside the city - the pirates are right outside, after all. All the city guard's weapons (and eyes) are pointed at the ocean.

2023-03-26 02:17:10 +0000 UTCI didn't have a chance to read the previous alpha due to uni stuff so I just now got to read the new content! And idk why but the scenes with Adso specifically and the MC's relationship with him in general made me cry a lot, maybe I'm just dramatic and overly emotional lol but for some reason it really managed to hit me in the feels π He may have had only a few brief scenes in the story, but I can really feel how much of an impact he has had in my MC's life, I just absolutely loved him as a character β€οΈ I legit bawled when the MC was thinking about his grave π And when the MC can run up to him and hug him and his eyes are damp π₯Ί The whole alpha is amazing so far of course but I really wanted to take a moment and leave a comment about this in particular because as I said, it really tugged on my heartstrings haha and it was on my mind for a while after I finished reading! β€οΈ

2023-03-25 19:28:05 +0000 UTCYeah, it was sadistic and dark, it made me feel uncomfortable. On the other hand, I'm definitely kicking Vaughn every playthrough π€ and telling Cynthia to f*ck off with her offer was nice. She's a psycho and I wouldn't want her anywhere near a top position!

2023-03-25 00:18:00 +0000 UTCMan, I just cut Joan's face... it was hardcore and definitely not as satisfying as I would've guessed! The scene was brutal and cold blooded (as it should), with her shattered leg and begging for mercy... I don't think my canon MC is going to have the stomach to do it π

2023-03-24 18:52:30 +0000 UTCIf you sided with Beka or are neutral, you need to pick the right choices so that Cynthia asks to talk with you alone - basically raise her relationship stat. If you sided with beka, this will be harder but it's possible! If you sided with the guard, then she'll always ask to speak with you. After that, agree to what she proposes and then, you have your chance to flirt!

Joan seriously freaks me out^^ I am also super glad there was an option to avoid combat all together, because all my MC can add to their defence is snark and sarcasm, which... usually don't hold up so well against metal and steel *points at scar on face*
