2024-11-22 00:24:49 +0000 UTCThe zanpakuto ( sword ) have 2 forms, 1 is "Shikai" ( transformacion basic, like the Renji sword with saw teeth ) and then the 2 is "Bankai" the full sword potencial ( like Tensa zangetsu "ichigo" or Senbonsakura "Byakuya" )

And in this scene, it was crazy to assume Hisagi would reach him with his words about old times. Still, the explanation for why Tosen couldn't kill him with his first strike was great.

Each zanpakto has a zanpakto spirit so when you said shunsui's zanpakto would start talking, all zanpaktos are capable of speaking to their owner if they have a good relationship with them. Shikai: the zanpakto's true form. Each shikai typically grants the user 1 extra ability. In ichigo's case, for example, it's getsuga tenshou. The way to achieve shikai is normally to converse with the inner world of the user and have the zanpakto spirit tell them its name. Bankai: the 2nd stage release of a zanpakto where the relationship between zanpakto spirit and zanpakto owner are closest. The power granted by these releases are mostly large enough to grant a 5-10× multiplier. Disclaimer: most soul reapers upon becoming captains in the gotei, take a test where they show bankai. So all captains generally have a bankai, except kenpachi zaraki who became a captain by killing the previous squad 11 captain. Kenpachi also doesn't know his zanpakto's name and therefore, can't perform a shikai or bankai release Toshiro has an immature bankai and it was implied by shawlong(a fraccione arrancar toshiro fought) that the petals in toshiro's bankai, represent a time limit to how long he can use bankai. Because the power system in bleach revolves around one's own soul, a character knowing or understanding themselves is important in battle, and a character's mentality, as explained by kisuke in the soul society arc, can heavily influence the fight despite how strong the character actually is.
