Most animes have a balance between freeze frames where nothing is happening, freeze frames where time is slowed down (to think usually), regular animation and buttery smooth sakuga, blue lock doesn't balance all of these, 90% of the episode is regular freeze frames or time is slowed down for the man to think, and even where we expect movement, it's usually pngs being scaled up or a 3D ball hitting two pngs, there's no balance

Yes the animators are not at fault, but the people that are responsible for the animation management are at fault, and that makes the animation company bad (Because they're employs of that animation company, and the company should've better managing system). No one has said the animators are bad but the animation company, yes it is a unfortunate situation for those animators that they're being included in these feedback, but at the same time they're the one who decided to go on with this project (No hate for the animators though). Again it really is the animation company who's at fault here, and they're getting negative feedback for what they did. Stop calling other's a idiot when you're one yourself.

I agree that the episodes lack a lot of animation. But it's rarely because of the animators. It's almost always the people who give the animators work that plan it badly. Animators are overworked, underpaid, and some of their animation even get cut One of the main animators for Episode 1 and 2 was supposed to work on 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, but quit after 2. He saw that a lot of his animation work was cut due to deadlines, he even said that he added movement to a lot of scenes. Never blame the animators, they're usually not the ones at fault.

Voice acting, sound design, and OST carry so hard that it’s just barely worth watching even though I’ve read the manga. If they’re saving the resources for the U20 match then that’s cool but you shouldn’t have to put out rushed slop for the first few episodes to do that. Reminds me of what the long running weekly shonen series like Naruto and Black Clover did, which we really should have moved past by now especially if it’s a seasonal show.

The animation is horrid. Shidou's goal was literally 2 pngs back to back. It showed his foot with a capcut effect and then a still png of him having already kicked the ball as the ball moved on a still screen. Its awful and lazy.

The excuse that "In most of the scenes u dont have movement because they are thinking or explaining something" is ridiculous since Haikyuu does that shit well WITH movement and even just disregarding that there are parts where the scene DOES require movement and ISN'T dialogue heavy yet you still get still images with like 1 thing moving. Season 1 had its fair share of still shots, but it showed way better movement than this shit.

With OPM I was a fan of S2 but after reading the manga I realised the big difference and why people got mad. It's the same thing with Blue Lock. Both shows fail to capture what made the manga great. But IMO all blue lock needs is simple running animation to improve it. It already has amazing OSTs/OP and EDs/VAs but lacks crazy animation rn. I don't think the quality will improve drastically but I do think it will slowly get better

Also, the production is cutting out a lot of the animation for these stills to save time and money. Watch the animator's tiktok (martinkiings). He shows his part of his animation being cut and says he isn't proud of what they put out

I think to say something about the animation is fine, but u all acting like it is seven deadly sins. its not demon slayer, frieren, jjk for sure but still not bad animation. Haikyus outsourced episodes were bad, sevend deadly sind season 4? 3? I dont know was bad, but this is totally fine. In most of the scenes u dont have movement because they are thinking or explaining something, where it is important so show a picture of what is happening to explain the football mind behind it. Like triangle play etc.

You gotta understand Nick the reason that there’s bad animation is because the animators are mistreated. They are not given enough time to create animation and their work is being rushed by producers. Watch some videos about it and do your research about animation.

Btw it won't upgrade for the u20, the complains online reached an animator and he said lots of things about most of his work getting cut (was suppose to work on 5 episodes but dropped after 1 because of that). Employees got overworked with low pay and apparently the studio just decided not to invest too much on making fluid animation and movements because they think more about money than workers condition or fan liking. So I think you should pick up the manga if animation really doesn't help with you liking the show.
