I was just obsessing over all the relationship options detectives can have with Rebecca in-game, and what the different relationship styles may imply about how they view the rest of the world or what they value yesterday, haha!

2020-07-22 22:10:18 +0000 UTCMy MC has a strained relationship with Rebecca that is slowly recovering and getting better :D Book 1 was ROUGH for them, mostly because my MC believed for so long that Rebecca just prioritized her career over her own daughter (which isn't necessarily the case, and MC knows that now, but years long mistrust takes awhile to let go of completely!) Excited to see that growth though into a much stronger relationship between the two as the books continue.

2020-07-22 18:28:42 +0000 UTCAll my MC's have different relationships with Rebecca and it's so interesting to see how they all play out, though I was only brave enough to have one of them have a really really bad one. My main MC's is neutral (she respects her but doesn't really know what to do with the affection) with maybe the possibility of it slowly getting better over time, and I really love that we can have a dynamic like that.

Like, the MC comes by their 1000% dedicated workaholic nature honestly, so respect to Rebecca's choices but she had 18 years to build some kind of relationship with her child - it's a bit late to start now that they're both adults. Love, love, love this character.

2020-07-22 15:25:21 +0000 UTCI'd like to say my detective and Rebecca have hit the 'bad, but stable' sweet spot. lol I truly liked that you could have a MC who very much understands mom had to work/put food on the table/enjoys what she does - - but that doesn't mean we're cool beyond professional. Very interesting to have that respect of life choice, but emotional distance. (Also funny to see bad relationship with Rebecca pm equivalent to Love Triangle PAIN -- I may be the only person who Doesn't have a MC with a good Rebecca relationship XD)
