Sawashiro

Will probably upload Yakuza 0 Co-op Director's Cut in the upocming days, Mugen is helping me with movesets for Sawashiro (the rush combo you're seeing above) i think his first fight moveset is like 70% complete. All that's left is giving him a nice AI.

Janfon is still working on animating the co-op cutscenes for Kiwami Co-op, i haven't fixed the mod for the remasters yet because lately i have been fixing too many things so that one can wait

Finishing Touches on Co-op Directors Cut Port

Just translating some of the audio for the english dub for co-op then i think its done. I wont do anything for chinese because i don't understand the language one bit.

Also working on the port of this mod pissed me off so bad everything is just so poorly done and keeps getting on my way and and and I CANT TAKE IT!'! DAMN!!!!

Boss Heat Actions

I thought i'd make some mortal attacks lead to heat actions if they hit the player, funnily enough, Lost Judgment does this only once for Fudo Oshikiri and never again

You can also more clearly see injuries inflicted on the Ichiban's face here after taking a lot of damage. I always liked how Yakuza 3 to Kiwami had that but it was toned down super hard in Dragon Engine

Overall AI and Gameplay Improvements

I think one of my greatest mistakes while working on Like a Brawler 7 and 8 was that i added combat features as i progressed through the story which kept things inconsistent.

This time around i'm trying my best to ensure i want my new combat system to do everything i expect it to do instead of figuring it as i go, so far, the AI can think for itself to decide the best course of action and can punish the player for spamming attacks by counter attacking them right as the player has ended ...

Yakuza 0 Co-op Almost Fixed

I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel. Things are slowly falling into place and Director's Cut 0 co-op is suffering less and less bizzare crashes every day which is good news for K1 co-op which also needs fixing. I'm also simultaneously maintaining SRMM mod support for 0DC and Kiwami 1 & 2 Remastered so i 've had a lot on my plate lately, i thank everyone for their patience and i can't wait to get back on things that actually matter soon

Things Just Got A Lot Worse

The new update for Kiwami 1 broke Kiwami co-op, which means i have two co-op mods to be fixing. That's it, that's the post. Gotta take some time to fix em both

I will not be supporting Kiwami co-op on the legacy version. It would be too much work for me to do. At least it's an actual upgrade (even if its still not that much) unlike Y0DC

It's Working Out

I've been able to get Yakuza 0 co-op to boot up in Director's Cut, it's still crashing a decent bit but that will be quite easy to iron out over the upcoming days, Director's Cut seems to be handling inputs much better than the base game at a first glance so i guess it atleast has that going on for it. If the game gives me no more trouble the mod should be fixed for DC soon and I'll resume working on Kiwami co-op and Like a Brawler as usual!

Concerning Developments

Yakuza 0 Directors Cut released today, which completely broke Y0 co-op mod

I'm gonna dedicate my time to try and fix it . Kiwami 1 update is also happening on the 12nd, so i'll stop working on the co-op mods for now and wait if they break and fix if needed

New Cutscene Philosophy

Here's a very rough prototype of a cutscene change in Kiwami co-op, its meant to serve as a reference for Janfon1 who will re-animate it to be much better!

I was thinking moving some of Kiryu's moments to Ichiban (excluding signature ones, of course)

In this cutscene instead of Kiryu grabbing the guy by the face and throwing him, Ichiban grabs the guy by the throat and pushes him off. I personally think it makes him stand out more and less like a spectator this way, what do you th...

Screen Effect

Defeating enemies with powerful attacks now plays fancy screen effects just like in Like a Brawler 8!

On a slightly unrelated note, i also released updates for Like a Brawler 8 and YLAD Revised that should take care of antivirus false positives, after a year full of fighting antivirus companies, i managed to triumph!

Ichiban Variations

The Ichibum models that will be used based on the current chapter

Punch Perm Ichiban is for the first chapter only, followed by the ponytail when he gets out of jail in chapter 2, and he finally gets his iconic haircut at chapter 5

My personal favorite is the punch perm one, i think i will most definitely include a optional download that replaces the afro with punch perm (excluding that one cutscene where he gets a new haircut)

WIP

Just a very small cutscene, needs sound editing and need to fix that really shiny hair on Ichiban, lol.

Not much to show at the moment, because Janfon1, the animator who makes these is busy for the week. In the meantime though, i was working on a tool that will allow me to add entirely new cutscenes/sequences to Yakuza 5, 0 and Kiwami in the future

This could mean that Ichiban gets his very own substories in the future! (On top of the new cutscenes)

Big Quickstep Upgrade

Things are really coming along now, up until this point including in Like A Brawler 8, the second quickstep was essentially "faked", but now, i've managed to turn it into a proper one

What this means is now that

-You can double quickstep into any direction (originally it was only the direction of the first quickstep)

-Double quickstepping is much more fluid now

-I can add any amount of quicksteps i want (Breaker in particular could probably benefit from more than two q...

Blood

One thing i want to do for this mod to make it closer to older yakuza games is blood. I feel like its too tame on Dragon Engine games these days (although Pirate Yakuza was better with it) so here's one big change: Ichiban can now have injuries on his face and body just like how the player could in Yakuza 3 to Yakuza 0

Of course all this can be toggled on mod settings

Lots of Ideas

Looking into innovate on the gameplay of Like A Brawler. I was thinking of mixing ragdolls with old school animations and i also want to add wallbounding somehow.

Further Heat Action Improvements

Some of you who have played the original mod will notice the improvements immediately. Heat action prompts have brand new UI (the one from Yakuza 6/Kiwami 2) but the most important part is, damage is calculated properly now like in Infinite Wealth, some of you may recall heat actions having really bad damage towards end of the game in the original mod but this will solve it now that damage is being calculated far better than my own poopy algorithm (hopefully)

Animation Work

Janfon1 has recently started on animating this scene. We were not fully sure how this was gonna go because Ichiban in Dragon Engine is extremely expressive (something that Old Engine models cant do that well) and the results are AMAZING. Despite the limitations he has captured the vibe of the original perfectly.

Several people also volunteered to help with this cutscene. Metman98uk ported the barber shop and adidaskote has made the woman barber model.

Weapon Pickups

Nothing too special happening on this video mainly, posting this here to show that slow but steady progress is happening on Like a Brawler Kiwami as well, just adding core combat features, i want to start adding heat actions soon.

Two Bums

During chapter 6 on Purgatory, Ichiban can run into Akiyama, talking about what happened

Part of my ongoing effort to establish side content for Ichiban, stealing RGG Online's homework and making them childhood friends. Current goal is to have Akiyama appear here and the post credits scene. There are also plans to add other characters (I wonder who is the woman that Akiyama mentioned...) and i'm thinking of new substories as well.

Cooking Ambitious Stuff

Weapon Equipping

A feature from Like A Brawler 8 now backported. Allows you to equip any weapon when you are freelancer and then pull them out during battle

I also rewrote really big chunks of the gameplay code to account for multiple players so who knows? Maybe if i end up doing Yakuza 7 co-op Like A Brawler Kiwami will be easy to update it to be compatible. Lol
