Proper Way to Hand Express Milk

Hand expression gets the last bit of breast milk out so that it doesn’t sit in the breast causing bacteria to grow it also encourages the breast to make more fresh milk for your baby. If a breast is Engorged it can create unhealthy milkduct blockage and mastitis, tender breasts and infections. In order to prevent these things we must hand express our milk to alleviate the pressure abd get old milk out for new milk in. Using the proper technique for hand expression is pertinent. The best technique that I have used is cupping the fingers around the end of the areola pushing back upon the breast and gently pressing down on the areola never on the nipple as shown in the pictorial. Last but not least is to remember to completely dry the nipple area before putting it away to also prevent infections like thrush. This educational documentary is in tier 4 exclusive folders now.
