Talking Futurama - Insane in the Mainframe
Added 2021-11-08 05:01:01 +0000 UTC
This month, we're talking about one of the funniest and most horrifying episodes of Futurama to date! Framed for a robbery he didn't commit, Fry pleads insanity and unwittingly ends up in a robot asylum, where the tortures he's subjected to are as cruel as they are hilarious. Listen in and learn where on his body Fry likes discs crammed into, how to sleep like an insane, drunken angel, and why Bender has a human heart in his chest cavity. So don your favorite Napoleon hat and get ready to hear us discuss an episode that'll leave you screaming!
When you said that Dr. Zoidberg received two coupons in the envelope, but we only learn about the one for the oil change. I immediately wondered if the other one was for a Free Spa Treatment that would be brought up in “Tip of the Zoidberg”. I found out it is not, but I did discover that later episode has a continuity error in which Zoidberg will have been with Planet Express for 80 years. Curse you Comedy Central!

This is my favorite episode of Futurama because it's three really funny plotlines all in one solid episode. First the trial, then Fry in a robot asylum, and Fry thinks he’s a robot. I know Fry is suffering but it's in a hilarious and sadly real scenario.

A couple of phrases which entered our family lexicon are derived from this episode: “Are you scared?” , and “56?!?”followed up with “You no good 56er!”
Any significance to the number?? Thanks

I think this episode has my favorite Futurama joke, which is Fry desperately trying to prove he's human by attempting to demonstrate that he ages. There's something so absurd about that. On the one hand, it's a very clever thing of Fry to think of, but clearly he can't show he's aging in the brief window before he's subjected to more horrors.

If you guys have money just sitting in your savings account, you should at least open a Roth IRA and invest in a target fund. Leave enough money in your savings account for a rainy day, of course.

I think Spy Kids doesn't get memed because those movies do NOT hold up. Frankly, I think Robert Rodriguez just isn't that good of a director. His films always have weird quirks that drag them down or bad effects or something else that keeps them from being worth revisiting. I think I saw the first 3 Spy Kids in theatres and I barely remember them.

This episode is very similar to Arkham Asylum: Living Hell by Dan Slott & Ryan Sook, where a white collar criminal pleas insane and gets sent to Arkham, and then is tortured by, and turned into a new member of, Batman's rogues gallery - Great White Shark.

The biggest impact this episode had on me was I have been since unable to see/hear the number "56" without going into Roberto's "now that's all I can think about!" spiel in my head.
