Crown Royal bags are a fixture of Texas garages. Someone started a trend and every man of a certain age has shotgun shells, nails, dip, or some other random item kept hanging in a CR bag. Growing up, that’s what I thought they were for.

Hey guys, they have the first 4 seasons of King of the Hill at Wal-Mart for $20 on dvd.

It is later revealed that Bobby's middle name is "Jeffrey", so Hank didn't entirely nix the idea. Robert Jeffrey Hill is also possibly named after one of Hank's three best friends, Jeffrey Boomhauer.

Haha. I was never in any athletics so I can’t speak on any strange showers on that end.

Being a kid from Chico, the Chico State joke was a big hit amongst my classmates at the time.

Please release the extended cut of this episode where Henry provides move-to-move running commentary on Bobby and Connie's match, tia

Matt Bixler! Hello!

Can we talk about Dooley? He seems to be a very troubled child

You guys were dead on about school being a tool for capitalist programming. After all what is homework but a method to acclimatize kids to taking labor home and doing it for free in their off hours for zero gain?

Cold Mountain starring Nicold Kidmountain .... i am so very very sorry

I started watching the next one on Hulu last night which was Company Man, but something seemed off. The things I had learned about animation from your podcast made me recognize "Hey this looks like a season 1 episode that got pushed to season 2 for some reason", and sure enough I checked and you had already done Company Man. So I was able to watch the correct episode!

Connie's lucky that she had her parents' support. I loved playing sumo/grappling in the living room with my brother as a kid, until he grew up and became too cool to play with his little sister. My brother was briefly enrolled in karate classes and I really wanted to learn too, but I didn't get to because I'm a girl (I had to take piano instead). I would eventually learn a martial art as an adult and stick with it for 10 years before my pandemic-forced hiatus, but man I really wish I was allowed to start taking classes at an earlier age. I really could've used the boost in fitness and self-esteem in my childhood! (Oh, but unlike Connie, I have zero interest in pro wrestling and would rather watch/learn MMA.)

The second I remembered all the wrestling stuff I was soo ready for Henry to start geeking out and informing me on even wrestling stuff I can add to what I have already learned listening all these years!

Tyler the Destroyer

You guys take strange showers over there in Oklahoma? 😂

So this is episode is somewhat of a culture shock for me growing up. I grew up in literal small town Oklahoma where in the hierarchy of sports, the one the topped it all was Girls Basketball, followed by Cheerleading. It could be the fact that the girls basketball coach was well respected, very conservative, no nonsense but also had love for the sport that got our girls to state several times and even got 2nd my senior year. The assistant coach was also very well respected but more moderate and sweet, the mother of one my classmates as well as taught all our computer classes in high school. As for Wresting the man who coached that was VERY conservative to the point of he taught Government for the Junior class in high school, was incredibly religious, and would often turn on his TV in class while we worked. I’ll let you guess which channel his TV would be turned on to as it was the ONLY channel he’d allow on his TV :-/ that being said out wrestling team was good, always qualifying for state with several of our guys placing. And they even had 1 girl on the team when I was there. As far as I know there was never any commotion about her being on the team, it’s possible there could’ve been but with this being small town America words travel incredibly fast so if anything did happen we likely would’ve known about it in days. I also recall her older sister being on the wrestling team as what we called a Mat Maid which were essentially cheerleaders for the wrestling team, so it’s likely she had some pull on that as well. As far as cheerleading goes that one caused a stir in my high school in that during my junior year there where members of the football team who were also on the cheerleading squad wanted to both but were forced to make a decision and it resulted in a good number of players quitting the team and staying on the cheerleading squad, also these guys weren’t effeminate or gay, or anything close to that, they were the popular straight muscular jock types. In the years I went to my high school our cheerleading squad always made state and never got anything below 4th place as opposed the numerous losses our football team went through.
