My girlfriend’s dad was actually Vivian Bagley’s son on The Lucy Show, he was also an extra in the Music Man, and an episode of the Outer Limits that we watch every Halloween. He’s stayed out of the spotlight once he grew up and was the only cast member that didn’t make public appearances except for one event. He loves Vivian Vance and talks about how great she was to him and reminisces about parties at Lucille Ball’s house.

I always kept the boxes for my most prized toys, specifically my Gen 1 vintage Star Wars toys. My family moved a bunch of times so it helped to keep the sets together. Funnily enough the vintage boxes themselves have value now. I sold my original 1981 AT-AT box for 40 bucks a few months ago (the AT-AT toy itself disappeared under mysterious circumstances in 1994 but I'm not bitter).

It was the first or second season so they weren't famous but it was known the character was played by twins.

Lindsay was an amazing guest. So funny. Please have her back on soon.

Ah, I totally forgot this episode was where they go skiing for 2 seconds, I can chime on on this. I did competitive ski racing in the northeast from elementary through high school, and all these jokes are 100% a west coast LA comedy writer's perspective. In the east, parents just dump their kids at the ski mountain on weekends like it's the mall, and second hand equipment in New England is dirt cheap. Having raced competitively, requiring me to wear a GS-suit (Giant Slalom Suit) like Flanders, teenager body maturation rates become, let's say, very obvious during high school. Skiing is also ostensibly a co-ed sport (boys and girls don't compete against each other, but races are run consecutively on the same day). Everybody of every gender is in a Stupid Sexy Flanders suit and it definitely informs some preferences in a hormonal brain. People joke about how horny high school band is -- having seen both up close, nothing compares to ski racing. Also, cross-country skiing is for narcs and off-season track & field kids, so take that, Lisa!

Ah yes but she refers to herself as both "Ricardo" and "Carmichael," which were two distinct Lucy characters

Bob Mackey

Thank you! I didn't know that. Do you remember if it was before the twins became really famous?

I very rarely watched Full House but there was an early episode where the twins appeared together when they were still pre-verbal. Jessie was having some sort of fever dream and the two of them ran into his room with a voice chanting at him "change me! Feed me!" over and over again.

Stephen C. Nedell

I don't think the joke was Lucille Ball's ghost coming to visit Lisa, and instead was Lucy Ricardo, the character's ghost. This is why she identifies herself as Lucy Ricardo. That makes the joke much funnier to me as well as far less morbid

I sort of remember the Full House final episode where Michelle fell off the horse and got amnesia. I am not going to revisit the episode even though it's on Hulu. I think that episode was an excuse for Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen to be together in one room. There was a moment were a version of Michelle with her memories appears to the amnesiac Michelle. They have a conversation and they merge and that is how she regains her memory. It was the only time on the show where Mary Kate and Ashley appeared together even though the Olsen twins were famous outside of Full House by this point and people were aware that they were twins. After that DJ goes to the prom with Aladdin...err...her boyfriend Steve and the episode ends with a final cast bow. I don't remember it being a clip show but I remember the episode feeling off for a finale. I remember being a kid and not realizing it was the final episode. I wonder how much time in advance they knew it was going to be the finale because it felt like a season finale and not a series finale to me. This is no criticism to the writer of the episode. It would be interesting to see if the writers were under pressure to close out the show and how time much in advance they had to close out the show.

true story: the Hansen's Disease twist is the reason why this episode joined Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo on the "banned in Japan" list - the topic is extremely taboo here.

Oooh once you get to Faith Off, I know what the original line was when Homer crashes into the ditch. Back in the day, the subtitles would display the original lines instead of the ADR. When they crash into the ditch, the subtitle line was "Stupid Ford"

Pedantic correction: AOL is NOT a part of Time-Warner anymore, they split away a decade ago and are now a media company. It's funny how Henry brings up that Dragon Quest is kind of a generic-sounding name, because that's literally why it was changed: Another tabletop RPG called "DragonQuest" already existed, so they changed it not wanting to infringe on the name.

Don't be so quick to dismiss "Little Big Man"! It's a pro-Native American, anti-cavalry film partially made to protest the Vietnam War. I haven't seen it but it's supposed to be very good.

As Talking Simpsons goes further into the Simpsons season, specifically starting with this season, I'm getting bombarded by childhood memories of during this time when I started watching "new" episodes of the Simpsons. I'm surprised how many jokes still hold up or how I'm appreciating these jokes for the first time again because now I'm an adult. And wow, I didn't realize so many good memes from this era too! Really fun revisiting this episode by listening to TS. Also shout out to Lindsay Katai, Infinity Train S3 is AMAZING!
