Catching up on some Talking Simpsons backlog and just now hearing about your table read. I went to one a few years back — for Looking for Mr. Goodbart, which aired in season 28 — and I wanted to share my experience of sitting behind Yeardley and realizing that she was dressed really nicely and had a very expensive pair of sunglasses and then putting together that "Oh, yeah, she's an immensely wealthy woman." I don't know why that was surprising, but I was glad she was living it up. Conversely, Nancy was sitting right next to her, and she wasn't dressed nicely, and my first thought about that was "I really hope she didn't give all her money to Scientology." Everyone was nice and I got to say hi to Tress, who was lovely, but I made the mistake of saying that I'd been enjoying her voice work ever since I was a little kid, and her response was "Wait, how old are you now?" I was in my mid-30s, and she said something to the effect of "Thank you for reminding me I'm old," but in a nice way.

I also agree it's meant to be a "Milhouse sucks" joke -- I think if gay panic was what they were going for they would've simply made him say "I think I'm attracted to men," but the fact that it's Milhouse of all people is the punchline. Of course, it could be too easily misinterpreted (especially through our modern lens) so it's not their strongest joke.

I have to say that when Bart says he’s a little attracted to Milhouse , I don’t think Homers Reaction is Gay panic I think it’s Milhouse panic! I mean come on that wiener? (As Homer refers to him) I mean hes already trying to score his daughter and after Bart the. Theirs Maggie! Sounds like I’m making a joke but i really think that’s what the joke was lol
