To close out this spooky season, we do our best to cover the long, LONG history of Charlie Brown, and break down whether or not The Great Pumpkin is an atheist parable. The part about the original recording with the commercials brought back an old memory for me! I definitely remember seeing those commercials with Peanuts specials as a kid in the '80s, or at least, seeing Peanuts plus Peppermint Patties and Mounds. I want to say that I saw them with the New Years' special, because I had that recorded on VHS and saw it numerous times so the commercials stuck with me.

It’s called “It’s Magic Charlie Brown!” and I saw it for the first time recently since it’s paired with my “It’s the Great Pumpkin” blu ray. (I have the Peanuts Holiday blu ray set.) In “It’s Magic” Snoopy finds a magic book and performs a magic show for the kids. In it he turns Charlie Brown invisible, but forgets to turn him back. While invisible Charlie Brown kicks the football several times and even rubs it in Lucy’s face. By the end when he reverts back to normal and Lucy pulls the football away she claims that all the other times didn’t count, but come on! We all know that an invisible kick is still a kick.
