Also, this is San Francisco and they take a different view of those things than most parts of the country.

2022-11-26 22:34:18 +0000 UTCThey are correct that any evidence obtained illegally (in violation of civil rights) cannot be used in court. BUT, with a life on the line and time being of the essence, 'Exigent Circumstances Doctrine' applies which would allow Harry to conduct a warrantless search of the suspect's residence for the girl, or any evidence that may lead to her whereabouts. And all evidence found during the course of the search, (e.g., the gun) would be admissible in court. But they wrote this snag in to further the plot of the movie and rile up the audience... and it worked 😄
