Skyrim DLSS3 Frame Generation showcase

For showing how well it works in Skyrim.

And it won't be limited by CPU bottleneck.

can I have the link, please? And does it go to the data folder?Or can I install with MO2?

Mariana Varejão

how download?

Isaac Braym

download?

Agent Xero

In Discord server.

PureDark

downaload?

Oberson

There's serious input lag issue because of reflex not working, so before Nvidia fixes it I can't really release it. But maybe I can release an alpha just for testing.

PureDark

Could really use this right now as I'm currently CPU bottlenecked. Also love the DLSS implementation, keep up the hard work :)

Simon Slays

When will this be released???

Liam Young

Very interested in trying this out!

Cosmic Savant

Ahh I see that makes total sense. Thanks for the in depth explanation. The fake frames are generated regardless of cpu bottleneck rastarization might have

Flip

Whatever the maximum fps you can reach is. Regardless of it being CPU or GPU limited. Frame generation will slightly under double it. Because it's creating one generated frame for every real frame. So if you load up the Skyrim engine and it's maximum fps is 55fps. That will become just under 110fps. Every real frame will be just as taxed by draw calls. Cpu threading of the engine etc. But frame gen will double that number. If your getting 300fps then you'll get high 500s. If your getting 30fps either 60 or near 60. This becomes less true once you go beyond 4k because each frame becomes more expensive. So at 8k that's producing 30 frames you probably won't get 60. Because at that point the optical flow engine is being pushed beyond its capacity to double fps. This is why 3xxx cards cant do frame gen. They would add about 10% fps but it would look ugly and choppy like 8k or 12k looks on a 4090. Its just asking too much.

Mat wilson

Because DLSS3 can double the frames even if the game is limited by CPU.

PureDark

Can't wait for this

Liam Young

Can you talk a bit more about why it's not cpu bottlenecked. I don't totally understand why that would be the case considering cpu bottleneck occurs even with native DLSS3 on pretty much every game running under 4k

Flip

We need this

Many Things

Fallout 4 and elden ring are great choices in my opinion. Elden ring because it's so heavy already with raytracing and the developers truly do not care about the user experience or FPS. So while in the ideal world you wouldn't have to do their work for them - it's great you are anyway. And fallout 4 is particularly useful after skyrim, because it's a game that was never actually able to hold a high fps natively. In the middle of boston had sections that made every pc running ultra shadows hit mid 40's at best. Meaning that we all had to set the shadow distance to 3000 instead of the default 20000 to get a over 60fps experience. Dlss 3 is going to virtually solve this.

Mat wilson

My current plan is still DLSS3 for Elden Ring and Fallout4 since I have already made DLSS2 mod for them. And when they are done I'll decide which game to mod next.

PureDark

Do you have any plans for what games you'll work on next once Skyrim/ER are done? I'm sure you're not taking requests atm but if I could be cheeky and make a suggestion, would you consider Total War Warhammer 3 at some point? It has a DX12 mode and TAA so hopefully it has the sufficient motion vectors/engine data for adding DLSS. The title is mostly GPU bound at 1440p and above so even just the upscaling (DLSS 2) without framegen would benefit the game a lot. Not to mention the only AA options on offer are FXAA and TAA and both look like ass in these implementations lol so DLSS with some sharpening should look miles better.

Jorawar Uppal

@puredark hi mate loving the progress! Looks like a stable release is right on the horizon.

Jorawar Uppal

Yes you do need a 40 card to use it.

PureDark

@puredark, looking really cool ! But I was wondering if you'd need a 40 series card to use Frame generation ? (Sorry if it's an obvious question)

Thinking Thoughts

@puredark, when you build an alpha or beta. Can you include the option to set the base pre generation framerate? So for example, if we want to target 120fps, can you include the option to set a 60fps limit to the pre generated fps? This could really help in a lot of situations.

Mat wilson

Yeah mods and ini edits fixed this a while back.

Mat wilson

Yea mods fix that issue right up. 120fps indoors and no issues

Talf

It's also worth mentioning that skyrim has a framerate physics bugs where the engine runs at faster than 1.0x (60fps). If our DLSS 3 starting framerate is less than around 60 or 70 (meaning the final framerate is 120-140) then this engine glichiness will no longer happen. Although we can also bypass this issue with non dlss by simply changing the ini physics framerate limits.

Mat wilson

I would say one step at a time. This is experimental. If he manages it then porting to Skyrim vr would be a relatively smaller step.

Mat wilson

it's a plugin and doesn't have load order. The order in mo2 only control how the files overwrite each other. And this mod doesn't overwrite anything but itself.

PureDark

is there a way to put your mod last in the load order, or first, so that it would override any other SKSI mods, so that game wouldn't crash with your DLSS2 or DLSS3 mod?

reanor

DLSS 3 is only available on 40 series, no matter what.

Liam

Love how farr you've come. That looks flawless. I hardly see any visual bugs.

Mat wilson

Does this work for skyrim vr

TheReclusiveGamer

I assume this will only work for 40 series cards?

aDisgruntledGiraffe

Incredible as always!

Logovore

Awesome work!! Now I seriously need to consider buying RTX 4090….

FeNiCMo

The frame boost is insane how can I do that for my skyrim
